Detailed comparison of the Swash 1400 and Special Edition dib850 bidet seats

Both of these are fantastic seats! Depending on what you’re looking for in a seat, either of these units could be the right choice for you. We hope that by giving you all the facts below, you’ll be able to make the best decision possible. Note that the features listed below are not comprehensive, they are simply the features that differ from one seat to the other, since we’re running a compare of the two.

Look and Feel

Hidden water and power connections

While many of our customers love the idea of a bidet seat, the unsightly nature of the hose and cord connections can often make them drag their feet. This is understandable, after all, if you’re spending good money on a luxury item, don’t you want it to look good too? Until now, this was practically impossible to find. Now with the Swash 1400, you finally have a design that offers a little hidden pocket tucked away behind the seat. In this pocket, you’ll find the water and power connections. No more cords and hoses sticking out from the side of the seat, just plain, simple, classy luxury.

Needless to say, like other seats on the market, the DIB-850 does not offer a hidden water and power connection. Not a deal breaker, but if you’re looking for that polished look, it is something to think about

Large, comfortable, contoured seat

When it comes to bidet seats, two words come to mind for most… Comfort and hygiene. Bidet seats offer both through a host of features, but when it comes to larger individuals, comfort in a toilet seat can be hard to find. The dib-850 by Bio Bidet helps to solve this problem by offering the largest, best contoured, most comfortable seat for those who might not be comfortable on other seats. Pair this with it’s weight limit of 400 pounds, and you have an instant winner.

The Brondell Swash 1400 is pretty standard when it comes to the design of the seat itself, practically the same size as the others, and supports up to 330 pounds. It’s not uncomfortable, just not quite as comfortable as the dib-850, especially when it comes to larger operators.

Convenience

Sittable Lid

Both of the seats we’re talking about today have sittable lids, but the Swash 1400’s lid supports 270 pounds vs the dib-850 which comes in at 200 pounds. In the world of bidet seats, it’s rare to find sittable lids. If being able to sit on the lid is a must, these two seats are a couple of only a few on the market you have to choose from.

Removeable nozzle tip

The Bio Bidet dib-850’s offering of a removable nozzle tip may or may not be a must have. When using hard water with a bidet seat, sediment build up can occur rapidly. This sediment tends to clog the smallest holes first (yes, that would be the nozzle tip). Being able to remove the nozzle tip in a matter of seconds means that this problem can be fixed practically instantly. The Brondell Swash 1400 does not offer a removable nozzle tip. If the nozzle gets clogged on this unit, you’ll probably be sending it in for service…

For most people this is probably not a big deal, but for those with well water, or harder water, it’s something that should be considered.

Easy to replace deodorizer

When it comes to deodorizers in bidet seats, they are designed to last the life of the seat, but as time goes on, sometimes the deodorizers do tend to wear out. With any of the seats on the market today, these deodorizers are replaceable, but it’s not an easy process. The deodorizer in the Swash 1400 is also designed to last the life of the seat, but just in case the deodorizer does start to go, the Swash 1400 makes it easier than ever before to replace.

Wash

Enema Wash

An enema wash is one that washes with enough force and precision to force water into the rectum to help loosen hard stool. Most bidet seats on the market do not offer this functionality, but the dib-850 is one of a few exceptions to this rule, with a powerful enema wash, that uses Bio Bidet’s patented vortex stream. The Swash 1400 does not offer enema functionality. If constipation is a common problem you’re looking to have answers to, a dib-850 might be a better option.

Nozzle Sterilization

When it comes to bidet seats, being able to sterilize the nozzles is by no means a necessity, but it’s nice to have. The Bio Bidet DIB-850 does not offer nozzle sterilization, but the Swash 1400 does. The nozzle on the Swash 1400 is sterilized using a method known as silvernano sterilization, which is the same technology used by many hospitals to sterilize medical tools before surgery.

Adjustable Nozzle positions

While both of these seats offer adjustable nozzle positions, the Swash 1400 wins out with 7 different positions on each nozzle and further reaching nozzles than the dib-850. The dib-850 also offers adjustable nozzles, but only 3 different positions instead of 7. This coupled with the fact that the Swash 1400 also offers better range, gives it a decent edge.

Nozzle Layout

The Swash 1400 offers the more traditional dual nozzle setup, while the dib-850 offers a single nozzle that offers the functionality of two nozzles. While the single nozzle of the dib-850 is perfectly centered, the additional nozzle adjustments offered by the Swash 1400 make this category a toss up.

Wide Spray

Both of these seats offer a wide spray option. The Swash 1400 however, takes this to the next level by offering 3 different spray widths on every wash. These width adjustments can be changed in real time, giving you the ultimate in customization.

Other Differences

Warranty

While both seats offer 3 year warranties, the DIB-850’s warranty is the hands down winner. Offering 3 year full warranty, the dib-850’s warranty is hard to beat. The Swash 1400 on the other hand offers a 3 year limited warranty, where you’ll get 100% coverage in the first year, 75% coverage in the second year, and 50% coverage in the third year.

Both of these seats also offer extended warranties for an additional fee. The Swash 1400’s extended warranty upgrades your warranty to a 5 year full warranty. With this extended warranty not only will you get full coverage for 5 years, but Brondell will also handle the shipping costs.

The dib-850’s extended warranty will take you to a 6 year full warranty.

While Brondell’s customer service is good, from our experience, they are sticklers for following rules. Nine times out of ten, this does not pose a problem, but if you end up needing to return a seat 31 days after purchasing, you’ll be out of luck, no exceptions… Bio Bidet offers a bit better customer service. They follow the rules, but on occasion have been known to break their rules in an effort to help the customer. Bio Bidet’s top notch service coupled with their fantastic warranty makes them a hard company to beat.

Final Thoughts

As already indicated, we believe that both of these seats are top notch. Which seat out of the two is best will depend largely on your need. Do you have well water? Do you need enema functionality? Do you love the idea of longer reach and the idea of hidden hoses and wires? Depending on these and other questions, either of the two seats might be the winner for your needs. We’re not calling a winner, the choice is yours! As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask us!
