- Can the TOTO Neorest be manually flushed during power outages?
This is a common question we get due to the fact that the Neorest line by TOTO uses a powerful pump to assist in the flushing process. Thankfully, TOTO does provide a manual flush option for their Neorest line which consists of a pull string that activates a flapper in the attachment that sits on the flange. While this is a much weaker flush than you'd get with the pump assisted flush, it tends to do the trick for periods when power is out, and you just need to get the toilet flushed.

While bidet seats can be installed by nearly any of our customers on their own, integrated units are more tricky. They are similar to the install of a toilet, but it is a bit more complicated. While we strongly recommend hiring a plumber to install this integrated unit. But if you have experience with installing toilets, and you read through the instructions completely before starting, you should have a good feel if you would be comfortable installing your new integrated unit, or if you would be better off hiring a plumber.

To be ADA compliant, a toilet has to have a seated height of at least 17 inches. The TOTO Neorest is ADA compliant and offers a seated height of more than 17 inches, allowing it to meet these requirements.

Sadly this bidet does not have a battery operated version. This bidet requires too much power to realistically rely on a standard battery, as the electrical pull is too high. This bidet uses a standard 3 prong GFCI outlet.

My wife wanted this bidet and so we made this purchase. But honestly it was not something I thought I would want to buy. I had never used a bidet before so why start now? But I admit this thing has changed my mind. We are both very happy with the Neorest NX1. It has impressive features (wand, dryer, automatic lid open, bowl stays clean) many can be customized to user preference (water temp, pressure etc). Another positive is the solid construction, and Japanese quality build and design. A bit pricey, but I expect it to last several years. I did the installation myself but if you are not comfortable with basic plumbing and electrical better to hire someone to do this.

Exceptional product. Although expensive, I feel it is well worth the money. I guess the best praise might be that I feel exceptionally clean all day long. (This review is difficult to put into words due to the subject matter). Install was relatively easy for the plumber after an electrical outlet was dropped down next to the toilet. We’ve had it for over 30 days and it seems to be everything we were looking for in a toilet. I’ve wanted an electric bidet ever since our first trip to Japan in 2013, and this one completely meets our expectations.

Beautiful, modern design, which makes 700H seem dated. Made in Japan, and ships completely assembled in a single box (other Neorest models ship the seat and bowl in separate boxes, requiring extra steps to assemble).

The Toto Neorest NX1 is a great integrated bidet and also looks very sleek and modern. Features are great and installation is relatively easy (ensure the electrical outlet and water line are placed properly). The only issue with the NX1 that was discovered vs. other Nearest models is that the heated seat cannot stay permanently heated (even with the energy saver+ mode OFF). Given the large size of the seat, this newer model will only keep the seat heated in a standby mode of around 78-82 degrees. Once a user is detected by the body sensor, it will begin to warm the seat until it reaches its normal temperature that has been preset, which in my case is 5 bars per the seat temp on the back of the remote (up to a maximum of 96.8F) and takes about 10 seconds. This is different than other Neorest models (700H, 750H, etc) and with the NX1 you need to wait for the seat to be heated and it is not already heated when you sit.
No one at TOTO USA was aware of this until I asked and they had to speak to the engineers in Tokyo who confirmed this is the case. Other than this fact, the NX1 is a terrific unit.

The Neorest NX 1 is amazing. My wife absolutely loves it as do I. I’m 6 foot 4 and the size is perfect and essentially a normal toilet. The thing works really well on the water pressure is phenomenal.
Installation was not very difficult. If you don’t do plumbing, you will need someone to put in the valve on the wall that comes with the unit. Everything does actually come with the unit except for the wax seal at the base.
It is 100% worth some money and I would definitely recommend this to anybody who is looking for a toilet/bidet combination. Additionally, if you are not a small person this is the perfect one to buy because of the size and water pressure.
