While our ADA compliant units are very popular, there are pros and cons to each, so your personal needs and preferences will be your best guide in deciding which is right for you. The height of a toilet or integrated bidet is measured from the floor to the seat, as can be seen below. If you have a standard toilet but are looking for the ease of sitting on a comfort height toilet consider looking into risers, which would lift either the whole toilet or just the seat.
Luxury height units have a seated height below 17 inches. This is shorter than your average chair. These units can be difficult to use if you have bad knees, but they do offer a lower, sleeker profile. These lower sitting units also offer better ergonomics for those who struggle to complete a bowel movement once they sit down.
If your feet don’t reach the ground when you’re in a public restroom, you may want to consider purchasing a luxury height toilet for your home. These units are lower to the ground than the average public restroom toilet, so they’re often more comfortable for people with shorter stature to use. The main downside to luxury height toilets and integrated bidets is that they tend to be more expensive than the comfort height equivalent.

Toilets and integrated bidets above 17 inches fall into two categories: those that are just 17 inches or taller (known as “comfort height”) and those that are ADA compliant. Comfort height units are ideal for those with bad knees, since very little bending is needed to reach the toilet seat. Comfort height toilets can also be called “universal height”, but make sure you double check the height of any toilet labeled “universal height” – some brands consider 16.5″ and up to fall in this category. While both luxury height and comfort height have advantages, comfort height is most popular among our customers.
Our ADA compliant units are very popular. These toilets meet the requirements laid out in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. This act requires the seated height of the toilet to be at least 17 inches high. In addition to the height, ADA compliant toilets should also have a trip lever flush that can be installed on either side of the toilet depending on which side is open to the bathroom. This means that not all 17″ and taller bidet toilets are ADA compliant.
