Most bidet seats are only available in white, including the Eco NOVA. The TOTO C2, however, breaks the mold. This bidet seat is one of the only entry level bidets on the market to come in both white or beige, allowing it to match a wide range of bathroom fixtures.
In terms of size, the Eco NOVA is one of the thinnest, slimmest bidet seats around. The internals are efficiently arranged to minimize the seat’s footprint, and the end result is a bidet that’s nearly indistinguishable from an ordinary toilet seat.
In comparison, the TOTO C2 has a bulkier build, particularly when it comes to the seat’s height in back. This is largely due to the C2’s tank water heater, which takes up space and adds heft to the seat’s profile. The C2 also has a control panel attached to the side of the seat, resulting in a broader silhouette than seats with a wireless remote.
The Eco NOVA is crafted from the finest materials on the market. For starters, the polypropylene plastic shell is stronger and more durable than bidets built from ABS plastic. Second, the Eco NOVA’s nozzles are made from stainless steel, which is sturdier and more hygienic than aluminum or plastic.
TOTO’s bidets have a good reputation for quality craftsmanship thanks to the meticulous care that goes into their design. The C2’s nozzles are plastic, but TOTO states that they have a special lining that makes them as hygienic as stainless steel.
For an entry-level bidet seat, the TOTO C2 comes with tons of desirable bidet features, including three wash modes: front, rear and soft. Nozzle oscillation moves the wand forward and backward for greater cleansing coverage, while pulse mode quickly alternates the spray pressure to soothe tender areas.
The main downside to the C2’s wash is the tank water heater. While warm wash water is certainly a perk, running out is not, and tank heaters start to run out between 30 and 60 seconds into the wash. The seat will continue washing even when the tank is empty but the wash water will be cold. It takes 3 to 5 minutes for an empty water tank to refill and reheat.
The Eco NOVA, in comparison, has an instant water heater that generates unlimited warm water. This ensures you’ll enjoy a comfortable cleanse for the full duration of the wash cycle – no cold water for your behind! In addition, the Eco NOVA comes with front and rear wash modes, nozzle oscillation and a unique pulse wash that varies the water temperature instead of the pressure for a refreshing, sitz-bath effect.
The TOTO C2 has a scent-free deodorizer that purifies the air from the bowl by sucking it through a filter. This removes the majority of odor causing particles, resulting in a fresher smelling bathroom. Plus, the deodorizer works its magic without adding scents or chemicals, so you can enjoy the benefits even if you have sensitivities.
The Eco NOVA doesn’t have a deodorizer, but it does offer an especially useful feature that the C2 does not: a built-in night light. The night light can be set to automatically switch on in low light, illuminating the toilet bowl in a soothing glow. The net result? It’s much easier to find your way to the toilet without resorting to harsh overhead lights, and aiming for the bowl is easy.
Electric bidets like the Eco NOVA and TOTO C2 take hygiene a step further than most with nozzle sterilization. The inside of the Eco NOVA’s nozzles and tubing is coated with a silver nano solution that prevents microbial growth, and a built-in ultraviolet light sterilizes the outside of the nozzles on demand.
In comparison, the TOTO C2 uses sterile, electrolyzed water (EWATER+) to rinse the nozzles before and after each use. The bidet generates the electrolyzed water internally, so you never have to worry about running out. EWATER+ is also chemical-free, and it’s harmless to the environment.
Most TOTO bidets, including the C2 bidet seat, have a premist feature that sprays the bowl with sterile, EWATER+ as you sit down. This water coating makes the surface of the bowl slippery, which in turn makes it harder for waste to stick. The end result is that your bowl stays cleaner than it would without premisting.
The Eco NOVA doesn’t have a premist feature.
The Eco NOVA offers an auto wash feature that kickstarts a 90 second wash and 4-minute dry at the touch of a single button. The wash and dry settings (temperature, pressure, etc) are predetermined factory presets, but you can always adjust them at any time in the process. Notably, the Eco NOVA’s auto wash offers some of the longest wash/dry times of any seat on the market. This gives you the best possible chance at getting fully clean and dry the first go round, and it’s a terrific feature to have if you want to make life ultra easy.
The TOTO C2 does not have auto washing.
One major difference between the Eco NOVA and the TOTO C2 are the controls.
The Eco NOVA is operated via a sleek, wireless remote control that stands out for a few reasons. First, it’s super stylish, with black buttons and a brushed rose gold finish. It’s also constructed from stainless steel, giving it a satisfying feel and weight. Last but not least, it operates on a radio signal, which is more reliable than the infrared signals often used by bidet remotes. The remote is battery operated and comes with a dock that can be mounted to the wall, keeping the remote within easy reach.
The TOTO C2’s controls are located on a panel attached to the side of the seat. This configuration is less expensive than a wireless remote, so it keeps the seat’s overall cost down, and it ensures that the controls are always at your fingertips. However, it does add to the seat’s width and isn’t as discreet as a remote. Additionally, side arm control panels aren’t a good fit if you have a hard time looking down, have a heavier frame or plan to use a body part other than your hands to operate the controls.
The TOTO C2’s lid is only designed as a cover for the bidet and can’t bear weight. Try sitting on it and you might find yourself looking at a cracked lid or malfunctioning seat.
In contrast, the Eco NOVA is one of the few bidets around with a lid that’s specifically designed to bear weight – 400 pounds of weight, to be precise! Known as a “sittable lid,” this feature allows you to turn your toilet into a second seat in the bathroom. It’s great if you like to sit to dry off, clip toenails or assist someone in the bath.
