Detailed Comparison of the TOTO Neorest NX2 and the Bio Bidet IB-385 Toilet and Bidet Seat

Look & Feel

The TOTO Neorest NX2 really can’t be beat when it comes to looks. It features graceful, seamless contours and a rounded silhouette that will take the style factor of any bathroom to the next level. Though the Bio Bidet IB-835 isn’t as sleek, it’s nevertheless a handsome unit with a versatile, contemporary look that is able to blend in with a variety of bathroom designs. Both units come in white only, so if you’re looking for a beige unit, you’ll want to check out the TOTO Neorest 500H, TOTO Neorest 550H or TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET.

Wash Features

Water Flow

Water efficiency is among the TOTO Neorest NX2’s many virtues, with the unit using 0.11 gallons of water per minute compared to the Bio Bidet IB-835’s 0.18 gallons per minute. Though this difference may seem small, it can add up over time, impacting both your wallet and the planet.

Water Heating

Water heating methods may seem mundane, but they’re worth discussing as they can have a noticeable impact on overall comfort and convenience. The TOTO Neorest NX2 has an instant water heating system that provides unlimited warm water for washing. In comparison, the Bio Bidet IB-825 features a tank water heater. With this method, a finite amount of warm water is continuously kept warm in the tank. When the warm water supply is depleted, the unit switches to cool water for a few minutes, until the tank has a chance to refill. It’s unlikely that you’d run out of warm water with just one use, but if you run an extra long wash cycle or use the unit repeatedly within a short time frame, you’d be more likely to run out.

Comfort & Convenience

Auto Opening

The TOTO Neorest NX2 offers users a hands-free toileting experience from start to finish, beginning with its automatic open/close lid, which lifts and lowers as users approach or walk away from the unit. The Bio Bidet IB-835’s lid must be manually opened or closed like with any traditional toilet.

Nightlight

A thoughtful detail with big benefits, the TOTO Neorest NX2’s built-in nightlight illuminates the toilet bowl with a soft glow, making trips to the bathroom in low light safer, easier, and much more pleasant. The Bio Bidet IB-835 doesn’t have a built-in nightlight, so users who want to avoid stumbling to the bathroom in the dark or being blinded by the bathroom light may want to consider purchasing and installing an after-market nightlight. It won’t look as sleek as the built-in nightlights, but it will nevertheless get the job done and comes in a variety of colors.

PREMIST

As with all TOTO integrated units, the Neorest NX2 features PREMIST. With PREMIST, the unit automatically coats the bowl with a thin film of water prior to use, creating a slippery surface that repels waste and helping cut down on cleaning. The Bio Bidet IB-835 doesn’t offer PREMIST, so you will likely need to clean it about as frequently as a traditional toilet.

EWATER+

The TOTO Neorest NX2 uses electrolyzed water, called EWATER+, to sanitize the unit’s bowl and nozzles after each use. While the Bio Bidet IB-835 does rinse it’s units nozzles and bowl after use, it uses regular water to do so.

Self-Cleaning Technology

The TOTO Neorest NX2 features TOTO’s state-of-the-art, self-cleaning Actilight technology, which uses UV light, in combination with the unit’s sanitizing electrolyzed water (EWATER+), to kill bacteria and break down residue in the bowl. The Bio Bidet IB-835 doesn’t feature self-cleaning technologies, so you’ll be reliant on your current cleaning methods to keep your unit sanitary.

Other Differences

Weight Limit

Heavier users may want to consider the Bio Bidet IB-835, as it can support up to 400 lbs, while the TOTO Neorest NX2 is only rated to support up to 350 lbs.

Flushing

The TOTO Neorest NX2 makes it easy to conserve water thanks to its dual flush mechanism, which allows users to choose between a 0.8 gallon flush or a 1.0 gallon flush. Both pack a powerful punch with one (0.8 gallons) being designed for liquid-only flushes and the other (1.0 gallons) best suited for flushing solid waste. In addition, the Neorest NX2 features a reconfigured flushing system that enables the flush to powerfully sweep through areas of the bowl that tend to attract residue, which is an improvement over most models. It’s also worth noting that the flush power is boosted by a special pump mechanism that delivers a more forceful flush than gravity-assisted models, all while staying relatively quiet. The Bio Bidet IB-835, on the other hand, features only one flush setting that uses 1.6 gallons per flush, and the flush power is driven by gravity rather than a pump.

Bowl & Seat Design

The TOTO Neorest NX2 features an updated seat and redesigned bowl that take an already good product and make it even better. For starters, the seat on the NX2 is designed to provide maximum support and stability, making it a supremely comfortable sit. In addition, the NX2 features an innovative, rimless bowl that eliminates any nooks and crannies for dirt and germs to hide and making it easier than ever before to keep clean.

Customer Support

Bio Bidet wins the customer support category hands down! Over the years, our customers have had nothing but good things to say about Bio Bidet’s customer service, while we’ve gotten some mixed reviews about TOTO’s support services.

Final Thoughts

You’ll be getting an excellent unit with either the Bio Bidet IB-835 or the TOTO Neorest NX2. That said, there’s really no way to beat the TOTO Neorest NX2, which is one of the highest performing, most stylish, feature-heavy units on the market today. But while the Bio Bidet IB-835 doesn’t have  as many features, it does have a higher weight limit and comes with potentially better customer service, which are two factors worth considering. If we can help make the decision any easier, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
