Bio Bidet A8 Serenity vs Kohler Novita BH90 and BH93 detailed comparison

Both of these seats offer fantastic features, and state of the art designs.  When it’s said and done, picking an overall winner between these two is not an easy task.  Overall we feel that the Bio Bidet A8 Serenity offers a slight edge in features offered, look, and ease of use when it comes to the remote.  While we believe the A8 is the overall winner, the Kohler Novita BH does shine in multiple respects.  Trying to decide between the two?  Take a look at our detailed comparison below, and as always feel free to reach out.

Look and Feel

Overall look and feel

While we don’t tend to write an overall look and feel section, we felt like we needed to for this compare due to the extremely sleek and classy look of the Bio Bidet A8.  Designed with what Bio Bidet is calling a Uni-body, this seat sets a new standard for sleekness and class.
The Kohler Novita BH does not offer a particularly sleeker body than others on the market, but it is worth sharing that the overall height of the Kohler Novita is less than not only the A8 Serenity, but most other seats on the market as well.

Hide-away cord and hose

One of the common concerns we hear when it comes to bidet seats has to do with the way the hose and cord connect to the bidet seat.  These often stick out from the side of the bidet seat, and depending on the layout of the bathroom, they may look a bit unsightly.  Couple with this the fact that the power cable is dedicated to one side of the seat, and the hookups on a bidet seat often end up being a turnoff for many people.
Bio Bidet’s new A8 bidet seat puts a lot of these concerns to ease.  It’s design starts with a power cord that connects in the back of the seat instead of the left or right.  Because of this, placement of a power outlet becomes less of big deal.  Outlet on the left? Outlet on the right?  It doesn’t matter, either will work equally well.
Bio Bidet doesn’t stop there.  They also designed the seat to be used with “hideaway clips” (included) that help you clip the hose and power cord out of sight.  The design of the A8 Serenity makes it one of the classiest, sleekest looking seats we’ve ever seen in the bidet seat world.
The Kohler Novita BH, while it doesn’t look ugly, does not offer any of these features to hide the cord and hose.

Remote control

When it comes to remote controls, every bidet seat remote is different.  The Kohler Novita BH remote is a bit clunky, and while deciding to use it while in the wall mount isn’t tricky, it’s large enough that using it while not in the wall mount does require two hands, and the remote has buttons on the side of the remote, which are easy to press by mistake when holding in hand.  The Kohler Novita BH remote also offers some hidden features.  Press a button and one wash happens, hold down on the same button, and another wash happens.  This is one of the most common complaints we hear on the Kohler Novita.
The Bio Bidet A8 Serenity bidet seat offers a state of the art remote.  This remote is dual sided, offering simple, basic features on the front, and more complex features on the back side, along with a screen, allowing you to see the options you’re selecting.  This allows you to leave the remote in the wall mount when guests come over, and allow them to use the bidet seat without overwhelming them with features and options.  At the same time, giving you the option to customize the wash to extreme levels by simply flipping the remote over.  This is one of the “coolest” bidet seat remotes we’ve ever seen!

Convenience

Auto Opening Lid/Seat

This feature is one that is found in only a select few seats.  If you’re looking for something fun that adds to the wow factor of your new seat, auto opening may be that very feature.  The Kohler Novita BH is in the elite group that offers this feature.  It uses a motion sensor to pick up on when the lid and seat need to go up.  This feature can also be turned off, or set to open at the press of a button on the remote.
The A8 on the other hand does not offer this feature.  This is not surprising as it is a feature only found in few seats.  If you’re looking for auto opening, the Kohler Novita BH is the way to go!

User Presets

Either of these seats hold whatever settings were used last.  If you set the temperature to medium, and the pressure to high, next time the seat is used, these will be the settings the seat will default to.  In this way, both seats have one; “user preset”.  If you have multiple people in the home, you might want the ability to save multiple settings.
The Bio Bidet A8 Serenity offers two user presets.  These buttons are both on the front (simple side) of the remote, allowing for easy selection of one of the two presets without having to look at a plethora of buttons.
The Kohler Novita BH only saves the wash that was used last, like other bidets seats on the market without user presets.

Easy to remove nozzle tips

When it comes to operating a bidet seat on hard water, a seat with removeable nozzle tips is a must.  As sediment builds up over time, the tip is the first part of the seat to clog.  A replaceable nozzle tip allows you to fix this clog simply and easily by removing the tip, and putting a new one on.
Those on hard water will be happy to hear that the Kohler Novita BH offers easy to remove nozzle tips.  Simply extend the nozzle, remove the nozzle tip, and put a new one on.  It’s that simple!
The Bio Bidet A8 does not offer a removeable nozzle tip.  If you’re not on hard water, this isn’t a huge deal, but if you are, it is something to think about.  When it’s said and done, we often see these tips taking years before the sediment builds up.

Silent and audible modes

The Bio Bidet A8 offers an audible option for those who are hard of sight.  This allows the operator to hear a beep when a button is pressed.  Along with this, the simple design of the remote makes it a great option for the elderly.  Not looking to have the audible mode?  No problem, simply turn it off.
The Kohler Novita BH does not offer this feature.  For most, this is not a deal breaker, but for others, the audible function might be a must have.

Wash

Nozzle sterilization

The Kohler Novita BH offers nozzle sterilization using Silvernano technology, the same technology used to clean tools before surgeries.  The Bio Bidet does not offer any nozzle sterilization.  Not a deal breaker in our mind, but worth keeping in mind

Warm Air Dryer

Similar to most other seats on the market that offer warm air dry, the Kohler Novita BH offers warm air dry with adjustable temperature.  The Bio Bidet A8 Serenity bidet seat takes it a step further, offering not only adjustable temperature on the warm air dry, but also offering adjustable power of the dry.  This fantastic seat offers the best dry on the market to-date.

Water Heating Method

Both of these seats offer great water heaters.  The Kohler Novita BH’s instant water heater offers unlimited warm water, but that warm water wash may vary by a few degrees throughout the wash.
The Bio Bidet A8 Serenity offers a hybrid water heater, which offers the best of instant water heaters, and the best of a tank water heater.  Unlimited, consistent warm water!
Because the Kohler Novita BH’s water heater only varies a few degrees, most operators will not be able to notice the difference.

Nozzle Layout

Nozzle layout is another one of those items that don’t make a huge difference, but is something we like to bring to your attention.  The Kohler Novita BH offers a dual nozzle design, while the Bio Bidet A8 offers a single nozzle design with multiple nozzle spouts built into the end of it.
In our opinion the single nozzle design is better because it allows for a perfectly centered nozzle, and there are less moving parts to break down.

Water Flow and spray width

Water flow plays a big role in the quality of the wash.  The Bio Bidet A8 Serenity bidet seat offers 0.22 gallons per minute, and a wide stream, while the Kohler Novita BH offers only 0.14 gallons per minute, and does not offer a wide stream option.  It’s important to note that the industry standard is about 0.11 GPM, so the Kohler Novita is not less than most, and it will get the job done, but in our opinion, the higher water flow does offer a better wash.

Other Differences

Size Options

Sadly, the Bio Bidet A8 only comes in elongated and white, limiting the number of bathrooms it can be used in.  The Kohler Novita BH offers both round and elongated.

Final Thoughts

Overall, we feel like the Bio Bidet A8 Serenity is a superior seat.  There are a few different reasons for this.  First, the remote control, along with user presets.  To add to this the better water flow and coverage, and better air dryer are all great perks.  However, if you’re looking for a seat that offers auto opening, or you have hard water, the Kohler Novita BH may very well be the seat for you!
