Detailed Comparison of the Brondell Swash 1400 and Galaxy GB-5000 Bidet Seat
Look and Feel
Multiple Color Options
Finding the perfect bidet seat can be complicated enough without having to worry about whether it will match your existing bathroom fixtures. Fortunately, the Brondell Swash 1400 comes in both white and off-white, enabling it to meld easily with your bathroom’s color scheme. The Galaxy GB-5000 is only available in white, making it slightly less versatile.
Designed to Hide Connections
While the electrical and water connections are what allow bidet seats to work their magic, they’re not particularly pretty to look at. With the Brondell Swash 1400 you won’t have to thanks to the unit’s streamlined design, which allows the connections to be tucked out of sight behind the seat. Like most other bidet seats on the market, the Galaxy GB-5000 doesn’t have this feature, so its connections are flush with the seat and visible to users.
Convenience
Programmable User Settings
One of the great things about the Brondell Swash 1400 is the plethora of features it offers, including an “auto mode” option that allows users to quickly run a basic, no-frills wash/dry cycle. What’s even better is that it also allows up to two users to pre-program a wash/dry cycle with their favorite settings, conveniently allowing them to initiate a fully personalized wash at the touch of a button. Not only does this cut down on time frequent users must spend selecting settings, it’s also a great feature for households with users who have difficulty navigating the remote and need a simple way to enjoy a completely customized experience. While the Galaxy GB-5000 offers “auto mode”, it doesn’t give users the option to pre-program personalized wash/dry cycles.
On-Demand Nozzle Sterilization
Both the Brondell Swash 1400 and the Galaxy GB-5000 offer self-cleaning nozzles that automatically rinse themselves before and after each use in order to promote better hygiene, and each gives users the option of manually cleaning the nozzles should they need a little extra TLC. However, only the Brondell Swash 1400 features an on-demand nozzle disinfecting system that uses silver, a natural antibacterial agent, to fully sanitize the nozzle. This technology is similar to the methods used by hospitals to sterilize surgical equipment, and it takes the meaning of clean to a whole new level.
Warranty
While these bidet seats feature a solid build and quality parts, you can never completely eliminate the possibility of something needing repair. And repairs can cost quite a bit out of pocket, so a good warranty is a real asset. There are only a few units on the market whose warranties can beat the Brondell Swash 1400’s, and the Galaxy GB-5000 isn’t one of them. While the GB-5000 offers a 1 year warranty, the Brondell Swash offers a 3 year limited warranty that can be upgraded to 5 years.
Wash
Nozzles
Personal cleansing is what bidet seats are all about, and the Brondell Swash provides unbeatable nozzle range and superior cleaning power thanks to seven different nozzle positions, as well as three different width settings. The Galaxy GB-5000 also offers adjustable nozzle positioning, which helps cut down on the amount of body repositioning users must do to obtain a thorough wash, but it simply doesn’t have as great a range as the Brondell Swash 1400. Furthermore, the Brondell Swash 1400’s nozzles are made out of long-wearing, stainless steel, while the GB-5000’s nozzles are not. Stainless steel nozzles are particularly resistant to corrosion, scratching and cracking, and they can also be kept especially clean since the non-porous surface gives bacteria no place to hide.
Unlimited Warm Water
While the Brondell Swash 1400 and the Galaxy GB-5000 both use warm water for the wash cycle, they heat the water differently, and this has the potential to impact the user’s overall experience. The Brondell Swash 1400 features an instant water heating system, which heats water on demand. The upside to this is that you’ll never run out of warm water no matter how long you run the wash cycle. The Galaxy GB-5000 features a tank water heating system, which stores a finite amount of heated water in a reservoir. Once that water is used up, the unit switches to using room temperature water for the wash cycle until the tank has a chance to refill and reheat. The GB-5000’s tank hold enough warm water for about 40 seconds worth of wash time, so this is something to keep in mind if you’re someone who enjoys long wash cycles or if you’re a multi-user household and know your unit will likely have multiple people using it one after another.
Deodorizer
You’ll never feel embarrassed by bathroom odors again thanks to the Brondell Swash 1400’s premium deodorizer, which features a charcoal filter that purifies the air from the bowl and destroys noxious odors at the source. Plus, the filter itself is replaceable, making it easy to keep your deodorizer functioning at maximum effectiveness.
Final Thoughts
It’s clear that both the Brondell Swash 1400 and the Galaxy GB-5000 have a lot to offer users when it comes to comfort, convenience and wash quality. Even so, the Brondell Swash 1400 is the clear winner as it offers a number of high-end features that the Galaxy GB-5000 can’t match, including a replaceable deodorizer, aerated wash spray, superior nozzle range, high-tech nozzle sterilization, programmable user settings, and better warranty, not to mention multiple color choices and a sleeker design.
