Detailed Comparison of the Brondell Swash 1400 bidet seat and Smart Bidet SB-110 bidet seat
Look and Feel
Multiple Color Options
As a top of the line unit, the Brondell Swash 1400 comes in both off white (biscuit) and white. The Smart Bidet SB-110 is only available in white, so if you’re looking for an off white unit to match your bathroom’s color scheme, this may not be the one for you.
Designed to Hide Connections
The makers of the Brondell Swash 1400 attended to every last detail, even designing a pocket where you can tuck the unit’s cords out of sight. This is a departure from the design of most bidet seats, including the Smart Bidet SB-11, which leave the cords out in the open.
Convenience
Programmable User Settings
To keep users from feeling overwhelmed by the plethora of wash options, the Brondell Swash 1400 allows up to two users to pre-set their favorite wash and dry settings. This means you get a fully customized cleansing experience at the touch of a button—no need to select each option as you go. It’s ideal for users who want a highly individualized experience but don’t want to manually input their selections each time. The Smart Bidet SB-110 has fewer options from the get go, and it doesn’t allow users to pre-select their settings, so with this model, you’ll need to manually choose your settings.
Auto Mode and Child Mode
While having a wide array of features means having the luxury of a totally personalized toileting experience, users also like that the Brondell Swash 1400 offers a simpler option, auto mode, for those times when having choices feels like too much work. Pressing the “Auto” button starts a standard wash and dry cycle, which gets the job done without requiring any additional user input. This feature is ideal for households in which some users want the freedom to customize their wash while others need a simpler option. The Smart Bidet SB-110 offers something similar to auto mode called “child mode”. This function initiates a standard posterior wash and dry cycle that is designed to be safe for children ages five and up.
Replaceable Nozzle Tip
Keeping the Smart Bidet SB-110 hygienic is easy thanks to the unit’s automatic nozzle cleanse feature, which rinses the nozzles before and after use. It also offers users the ability to replace the unit’s nozzle tips, which can be especially useful for users who have hard water, as this can lead to clog-causing corrosion. While the Brondell Swash 1400 doesn’t have replaceable nozzle tips, it nevertheless includes two hygiene enhancing measures: self-cleaning nozzles and an on-demand nozzle sterilization feature that uses silver, a natural antibacterial agent, to keep the nozzles free from soil, bacteria, and corrosion. However, if you were to have an issue with the nozzle tip, you’d need to send the unit to Brondell’s service department to have it resolved.
Built in Nightlight
The Brondell Swash 1400 features a built in LED nightlight that illuminates the toilet bowl with a gentle glow, making nighttime bathroom trips safer and easier. The Smart Bidet SB-110 doesn’t provide this feature, but users who want a nightlight can buy an after market model. The after market versions aren’t as sleek as the built in kind, but they get the job done and come in a variety of colors.
Seat and Lid Weight Limit
The Brondell Swash 1400 features a sittable lid, meaning the lid can support up to 270 lbs, while the unit itself can support up to 330 lbs. The Smart Bidet SB-110 doesn’t have a sittable lid, but the unit itself can support up to 440 lbs, making it a good choice for heavier users.
Wireless Remote
The Brondell Swash 1400 features a sleek, wireless remote that fits in the palm of your hand, making it easy to read and select options. This can be particularly helpful for users who have limited vision or mobility and aren’t able to easily operate a control panel attached to the side of the bidet seat. The Smart Bidet SB-110 has a side arm control panel that’s attached to the side of the unit. Many users have no problems with this setup, but those that prefer the convenience of a wireless remote may find this type of control panel frustrating to operate.
Wash
Positionable Nozzles (with Adjustable Spray Width)
Both the Brondell Swash 1400 and Smart Bidet SB-110 offer positionable, stainless steel nozzles, with the main difference between the two being the number of nozzle positions available. The Brondell Swash 1400 offers seven different nozzle positions, giving it hard to beat range and versatility, while the Smart Bidet SB-110 offers three.
Endless Warm Water
The Smart Bidet SB-110 features a tank water heating system, which delivers a limited amount of warm water for washing. Once the warm water tank is empty, the unit will switch to using cool water, and you’ll have to wait until the tank has a chance to refill and heat the water before enjoying warm wash water again. The Brondell Swash 1400 features an instant water heating system that delivers unlimited warm water for washing. No matter how frequently you use it, you’ll never run out.
Deodorizer
While we all know that using the restroom can lead to lingering odors, the Brondell Swash 1400 lets you do something about it without having to buy expensive air fresheners or bathroom sprays. Its built in deodorizer uses a replaceable carbon filter to cleanse the air in the toilet bowl, thus helping remove offensive odors from your bathroom. Unlike some deodorizing filters, this one is easy to replace, so keeping your bathroom smelling fresh is a snap. The Smart Bidet SB-110 doesn’t provide a deodorizer, so you’ll have to take extra measures to eliminate bathroom odors.
Other Features
Warranty
The Brondell Swash 1400 comes out ahead in the warranty department, offering a 3 year limited warranty that can be upgraded to 5 years. You’ll get 100% coverage the first year, 75% coverage the second, and 50% coverage the third, though you will be responsible for shipping costs if you ever need to send the unit in for servicing. In comparison, the Smart Bidet SB-110 offers a 1 year limited warranty.
Final Thoughts
Both the Brondell Swash 1400 and the Smart Bidet SB-110 offer a variety of great features designed to make your toileting experience comfortable and relaxing. That said, the Brondell Swash 1400 has the edge over the Smart Bidet SB-110 when it comes to the number of features, color choices, and warranty. The Smart Bidet’s replaceable nozzles are a plus, particularly for those with hard water, as this predisposes nozzles to corrosion. But the Swash 1400’s on-demand sterilizing wash is designed to reduce the risk of corrosion, so you’re certainly not defenseless in that arena. Ultimately, you’ll have to decide whether the Swash 1400’s higher price tag is worth the extra features or whether you’re willing to trade options for a lower price.
