In this compare we will be showcasing both Bio Bidet and Brondell’s flagship bidet seats. Both of these seats leave the competition behind. There is no clear winner between the these two fantastic seats. Which seat is right for you will depend on your needs, and which features meet your needs best. The good news? We’ll be breaking apart ALL the differences in detail below. But before we do, take a look at the chart below to see all the differences at a glance.

As stated above, both of these top of the line seats offer practically anything you could want in a bidet seat. There are some minor differences that may make you decide one over the other. We’ll go through those differences below in great detail to make sure you choose the best option for your needs.
Both of these seats have a better cord and hose setup than most others on the market but both are very different at the same time. The Brondell Swash 1400 offers a little inset, or pouch where the hose and power cord connect, this allows for an inconspicuous connection that you won’t find elsewhere.
The Bio Bidet A8 Serenity bidet seat on the other hand has no such pocket. The hose still sticks out a bit (though with the included elbow, it’s not super noticable). The power cord on the other hand comes straight out of the back. This genius design allows owners to run the power cord to either the left or right depending on need instead of planning electrical outlet placement based on a bidet seat purchase. If ran down the same side the hose is on, the A8 comes with clips that link the hose and the cord together making the look as sleek and slender as possible.
Both seats are sleeker looking than most. The Uni-body design of the A8 Serenity offers it a level of sleekness slightly above the Swash 1400 in our opinion. However, add in the Swash 1400’s hidden power cord and water supply, and it becomes a very close contest.
When it comes to wireless remotes, the Bio Bidet A8 Serenity remote is king. This amazing remote control offers a dual sided design. Place it in the wall mount, and the only options your guests will see are the basic controls, front and rear wash, dry, and a couple user presets. Flip the remote over however, and you’ll find a wide array of features laid out in a intuitive format, along with an easy to understand screen that showcases all the features selected. This clever design uses the dual sided nature of the remote to offer unprecedented control and feature selection while still offering a simple “side” for guests, so they don’t get overwhelmed. When it comes to remote controls, the Bio Bidet A8 bidet seat offers the best, hands down… The Brondell Swash 1400 remote offers great options in an easy to understand format. Like the other remotes in the Swash line, the remote is well designed, and easy to understand.
Both of these units have state of the art deodorizers that use small fans to pull the air in the bowl through an active carbon filter. Both are replaceable as well, should the active carbon deodorizer start to lose it’s effectiveness, but the A8’s deodorizer replacement process is rather involved, while on the Brondell Swash 1400 you simply need to remove the drawer that houses the deodorizer cartridge, and put a new one in. It’s as simple as pulling out a drawer.
Both units offer warm air dry with with adjustable temperature. This is the standard for warm air dryers on bidet seats to date. The A8 Serenity bidet seat takes this a step further with adjustable power as well. For the first time ever, not only can you adjust the temperature of the dry, but you can also adjust the power behind the dry. Looking for a REAL dry after a bidet seat wash without using toilet paper? The Bio Bidet A8 bidet seat is the way to go.
Bidet seats often exclude what would seem like a pretty basic feature: a sittable lid. The reason for this has to do with the fact that a bidet seat stores lots of hardware in the back of the seat. This fact makes it hard to design a lid, curving off of this raised back that can support the weight of a human. In staying true to the Swash line, the Swash 1400 offers a sittable lid, while the Bio Bidet A8 does not. Need to sit on the bidet seat lid while you paint your toenails, dry your feet ect? The Brondell Swash 1400 might be the bidet seat you need.
For those hard of sight, this feature is a MUST HAVE. The A8 Serenity bidet seat allows you to turn chimes on or off. Why? So you know what’s going on… If you’re eyesight is failing, turn chimes on, and hear a beep when you select a wash, press the dry button or anything else on the remote. Find these chimes annoying? No problem, just turn them off!
Water flow is a tricky one… Higher water flow can mean a better wash, but less water flow helps to offer a more eco-friendly wash. Keeping in mind the perks of both, let’s talk about the water flow both of these fantastic units offer. The Bio Bidet A8 offers a whopping 0.22 gallons per minute. The highest water flow of any of the “top” bidet seats currently on the market, allowing it to offer a wash that’s hard to beat.
The Brondell Swash 1400 on the other hand offers a max water flow of 0.1 gallons per minute. While this is under half the water used for the A8 Serenity’s wash, the Swash 1400 offers an adjustable width spray which helps to make up the difference when needed. That being said, we still prefer the added water the A8 offers, but it’s close!
The pulsating offered by Bio Bidet’s A8 bidet seat offers relief to sore areas by alternating hard and soft washes. This offers a massage sensation and helps to soothe tender areas. If you’re looking for this feature, you’ll need to go with the A8, as the Swash 1400 does not offer it.
Both of these state of the art bidet seats offer more nozzle adjustments than you’ll find in other bidet seats out there, but the Swash 1400 does offer a slightly further reach with more nozzle adjustments, coming in at 7 total adjustments for rear wash, and another 7 adjustments. This combined with a nozzle reach better than any other on the market today, and the Swash 1400 is the clear winner in this area.
It’s important to note that aside from the Swash 1400’s nozzle adjustments, it doesn’t get any better than the Bio Bidet A8, with a total of 5 adjustments on both the front and rear washes, and a great reach, if you don’t decide on the Swash 1400, the A8 is a great alternative.
The A8 Serenity offers a slight edge on water heaters, but both are fantastic. The Swash 1400 uses an instant ceramic water heater. This heater provides better consistency than other instant water heaters on the market, and offers unlimited warm water. The A8 bidet seat on the other hand uses a hybrid water heater. This allows it to offer unlimited, 100% consistent warm water. Because the Swash 1400 water heater only varies by a degree or two, many will not see a big difference between these two water heaters during real world use.
The Brondell Swash 1400 comes with dual nozzles. One for the front wash, and one for rear. These nozzles have further reach than others on the market to date, but the dual nozzle design is thought by many to offer a few more parts that can break down than a single nozzle design. The dual nozzle setup also means that neither nozzle is 100% centered.
If you’re looking for a seat with a single nozzle, the A8 may very well be the way to go. This single nozzle offers a perfectly centered wash, but does not have quite the range offered by the Swash 1400.
If you’ve been researching bidet seats, the term; “aeration” is one you’re probably already familiar with. Practically every bidet seat on the market offers aeration, but no way to toggle it on or off. The Brondell Swash 1400 is with the masses on this one. It offers aeration, but no way to turn it off or on, it’s simply on all the time.
The A8 took a different approach to this. For the first time, offering aeration, but also allowing you to turn it off when not wanted or needed. Want more coverage and a softer stream? Leave aeration on. Want a more powerful wash? Turn aeration off. The A8 truly puts control back into the operator’s hands.
Both of these seats offer wide cleaning, but the Swash 1400 offers 3 adjustable width settings while the A8 Serenity does not. Because of the higher water flow offered on the A8, we don’t see this as a deal breaker, but it’s worth noting.
Nozzle sterilization is one of those features whose necessity will vary depending on who you ask. The Swash 1400 offers silver-nano sterilization, which is also used to sterilize tools in hospitals before surgery. It’s important to note that this sterilization is only used to sterilize the nozzles themselves, and not used for the wash. The Bio Bidet A8 does not offer nozzle sterilization
There’s no denying that both of these seats are quality seats worth trying. However, when it comes to weight limits they do differ. The Bio Bidet A8 supports 400 pounds, while the Brondell Swash 1400 comes in at only 330 pounds.
Looking for the best warranty on the market? Bio Bidet is the only way to go. On the A8, they offer a full 3 year warranty, covering everything! Not enough? This can be upgraded to a 6 year full warranty giving you additional peace of mind.
While you probably won’t need it, the Swash 1400 only offers a 3 year limited warranty, covering 100% in the first year, 75% in the second year, and 50% in the third year. This is upgradable to a 5 year full warranty should you so desire.
The Swash 1400 is much more versatile than the A8. The A8 by Bio Bidet is currently limited to only white, elongated toilets. Have a beige/biscuit toilet? Have a round toilet? You’ll be looking at the Swash 1400 as your top of the line pick. No complaints here, it’s a fantastic seat, worth every penny!
When it’s said and done, the winner will really depend on what you’re looking for in a bidet seat. Both the Brondell Swash 1400 and the Bio Bidet A8 Serenity bidet seats offer features not found anywhere else in the world of bidet seats. Looking for a seat with extreme nozzle reach? A powerful adjustable are dryer? A sittable lid? High water flow? Depending on your answers to these questions, either of these seats may be the right choice for you.
