Detailed comparison of the Swash 1400 and Kohler Novita BH bidet seats
Between the Swash 1400’s great nozzle reach, and the Novita’s auto opening, it’s hard to pick a winner. View the detailed compare below to help figure out which is best for you!
Look and Feel
Offers Biscuit
Out of the two of these seats, the Brondell Swash 1400 bidet seat is the only one that offers a biscuit seat, enough said… Both offer round and elongated. The Kohler Novita line refers to one as BH90 and the other as BH93.
Hidden water and power connections
Despite the host of different bidet seats on the market, few offer a sleekness you’ll find with the Swash 1400. This unit offers an inset hidden “pouch” where the water line and power cables connect. This allows them to remain virtually hidden, providing a look that the Novita BH or any of the other seats on the market will have a hard time matching.
Convenience features
User Presets
With all the features the Swash 1400 has to offer, the seat would not be complete without a couple of user presets to save them under. Both the Swash 1400 and the Kohler Novita BH will save whatever wash settings were used last, but the Swash 1400 takes this to the next level by offering 2 settings that can be saved. If you think you might enjoy different settings than the others in the family, being able to save multiple wash settings can come in very handy.
Auto Opening Lid and Seat
Looking to wow your guests? Nothing makes one’s jaw drop like a toilet that senses that you’re coming, and opens automatically. While this feature does not exist on many seats currently, the Kohler Novita BH does this, and does it with style. Want to turn off the auto opening feature? It’s as easy as pressing a button on the remote.
As is true with practically all other seats on the market, the Brondell Swash 1400 does not boast this feature.
Sittable lid
Those new to the bidet seat world might be wondering why this is listed here at all… When it comes to bidet seats, due to the way the rear area of the seat is built up, creating a bidet seat with a sittable lid is more tricky than you might think. For many, this is not a big deal, but for those who frequently find themselves sitting on the toilet seat lid while completing other bathroom tasks it may play a role in deciding what seat to get. While the Kohler Novita BH does not boast this feature, the Swash 1400 does.
Easy to replace nozzles
To most this may not be a big deal, but for those with hard water, this feature may be a necessity. One of the problems often faced by those with hard water is clogged nozzle tips over time. Get the Kohler Novita BH90, and you’ll be able to simply remove the clogged tip and put a new one on in a matter of moments… Problem solved. With the Brondell Swash 1400, there is no swapping out of tips, so you’ll likely be sending it in for repair, or possibly trying to clear the clog with a toothbrush. If you don’t have hard water, this isn’t anything you really need to worry about. If you do, it’s something to take into account.
Easy to replace deodorizer
While both of these units have deodorizers that are designed to last the life of the seat, sometimes owners can sometimes notice a breakdown of the deodorizer as the years go by. Both of these units have a setup that allows this deodorizer to be replaced, but the Kohler Novita needs to be practically taken apart, while the Brondell Swash 1400 offers a little drawer where the filter hides, making the replacing process an easy one.
Wash
Wide Spray
The Brondell Swash 1400 takes the idea of a wide wash to a whole new level by offering 3 different width options. In real time, the width of the wash can be adjusted from narrow to normal to wide. Depending on need, you can now choose on the fly between coverage and power. The Kohler Novita BH on the other hand falls under the more traditional “one width” design. Both seats work very well, but if the idea of being able to adjust the width on the fly appeals to you, the Swash 1400 is well worth considering.
Adjustable nozzles
While both of these have adjustable nozzles, the Swash 1400 takes the lead in this department with nozzles that reach further than others on the market, and offer more adjustments, coming in at 7 total adjustments for both the front and rear washes (compared to the industry standard of 3 adjustments). The Kohler Novita BH bidet seat follows the industry standard.
Final Thoughts
Both of these bidet seats are top of the line options, with perks they offer that the other does not. Which one you decide on will depend on what you’re looking to get out of your bidet seat. Popular reasons to choose the Kohler Novita are the auto opening lid and seat, as well as the removable nozzle tip. Common reasons to choose the Brondell Swash 1400 would be the user presets, the adjustable width, and the extra reach and adjustments. Still need help choosing? Ask us for help!
