Choosing between the TOTO S550e WASHLET and the TOTO S300e WASHLET is like shopping for a car when you already know the make and model you want but are considering different trim and bundle options. Both of these bidet seats are made by the same company and come in distinct packages that fit a wide range of preferences and budgets. As far extra amenities are concerned, the TOTO S550e WASHLET comes with a lid that opens/closes automatically and an LED nightlight, while the S300e has neither of these features. TOTO only makes the S550e in an elongated size, but does offer this model in two trim styles. The “classic” trim features a beveled edge while the “contemporary” trim comes with a smooth edge.
While the S550e’s automatic lid and built-in nightlight make necessary nighttime trips to the bathroom more convenient, neither are requirements for a quality bidet seat. If you decide you could live without these comforts, you are still getting a good, quality bidet seat in the S300e. This less expensive model still has many of the qualities that make TOTO stand apart from other brands such as PREMIST, which is designed to keep the bowl of your toilet cleaner, and the dual-sided remote built with new or seasoned bidet users in mind. However, the S300e only fits round toilets and comes in one trim. If you want the same features of the S300e in an elongated size, TOTO’s S500e WASHLET is the solution for you.
