Look & Feel

Profile & Color

Eco Nova side profile
Eco Nova side profile

The Eco NOVA is one of the thinnest, sleekest bidet seats on the market. In fact, it’s the closest you’ll come to finding a bidet with the profile of a regular toilet seat. The main downside to this elegant unit is that it is only available in white and fits elongated toilets only.

The Bio Bidet BB-1000 is available in both round and elongated seat sizes, so it can fit most one or two-piece toilet (it won’t fit toilets with French curves). Like the Eco NOVA, the BB-1000 only comes in white*. The BB-1000 is noticeably bulkier than the Eco NOVA, in part due to the tank heater housed within the seat’s shell.

*If you need a beige bidet seat, we recommend looking into the Brondell Swash 1400 (available in round and elongated sizes) or the TOTO S550e (TOTO S350e is the round version).

Materials

The Eco NOVA is crafted from the highest quality materials available. The shell is strong, durable polypropylene plastic, and the nozzle is stainless steel. Stainless steel is an ideal nozzle material because it’s strong and isn’t porous. This means that stainless steel nozzles resist cracking, pitting and corrosion and are easy to keep clean.

The Bio Bidet BB-1000 is made out of ABS plastic, which isn’t as durable as polypropylene. The BB-1000’s nozzle is also made out of plastic, which is more porous and brittle than stainless steel. This means that plastic nozzles may be more susceptible to breakage or harboring microbes. On the other hand, the BB-1000’s nozzles can be replaced at home, so you can easily swap them out if they become damaged or corroded.

Wash & Dry Features

Wash Settings

Bidet Nozzle Coming Out

Both the Eco NOVA and the Bio Bidet BB-1000 come with standard front and rear wash modes, as well as nozzle oscillation and pulse wash. But that’s not all! The Eco NOVA offers a strong “turbo wash” setting, while the BB-1000 comes with an “enema wash” that’s designed to break up constipation and stimulate the bowels.

It’s worth mentioning that “pulse wash” means something different for each of these seats. The Eco NOVA’s pulse wash varies the water temperature between warm and cool while the BB-1000’s alters the water pressure between firm and soft. The result is that the Eco NOVA’s pulse wash is refreshing and rejuvenating, while the BB-1000’s pulse wash is massaging and relaxing.

The BB-1000 also offers some of the strongest water pressure of any bidet on the market, while the Eco NOVA’s water pressure falls in a more typical range. Some users love the BB-1000’s strong pressure, while others find it to be too harsh, even on the softest setting. The Eco NOVA, on the other hand, has a pretty broad pressure range. The softest setting is quite gentle and the strongest setting is firm. However, even at its strongest, the Eco NOVA’s pressure is nowhere near as strong as the BB-1000’s highest pressure setting.

Water Heater

As with all electric seats, the Eco NOVA and Bio Bidet BB-1000 have water heaters that provide a luxuriously warm wash. The Eco NOVA’s “instant” water heater uses a ceramic coil to warm water on demand, so you never run out of warm water no matter how long you run the wash.

The BB-1000 has a “tank” water heater. Compared to the unlimited warm water generated by an instant heater, a tank heating system provides around 30-60 seconds of warm water at a time. Once the warm water tank is empty, the seat switches to using cool water until the tank has a chance to refill. It takes the BB-1000’s warm water tank three to five minutes to fill and heat.

Warm Air Dryer

Air drying lets you ditch the toilet paper, so it’s a great feature if you want to go hands-free in the bathroom. Both the Eco NOVA and Bio Bidet BB-1000 have built-in warm air dryers that blow dry your bottom after the wash. The BB-1000’s dryer is pretty standard compared to other bidet seats, with a 3-5 minute dry time. However, the Eco NOVA’s air dryer stands out thanks to a powerful air stream that gets you dry a bit quicker than the average bidet.

Deodorizer & Night Light

Bidet seat deodorizers pull air from the toilet bowl through a filter to neutralize odors. It’s scent-free and chemical-free, so it’s even suitable for individuals with sensitivities. The Eco NOVA comes with a deodorizer while the Bio Bidet BB-1000 does not.

The Eco NOVA also has a built-in night light that automatically illuminates the bowl when the bathroom is dark. The glow is gentle but bright enough to help you safely navigate in low light. All in all, it’s a great option if you’re often up at night to use the bathroom and don’t want to be jolted awake by an overhead light. The Bio Bidet BB-1000 doesn’t come with a night light, but you do have the option of adding an after-market night light that clips to the side of the bowl.

Nozzle Sterilization

Nozzle self-rinse
Nozzle self-rinse

The Eco NOVA offers two lines of defense against microbial growth. First, the inside of the Eco NOVA’s tubing and nozzles are coated in a silver nano-solution that is designed to deter mildew, mold and bacteria. Second, the Eco NOVA comes with a state-of-the-art UV sterilizing system. When activated, UV rays kill any microbes lurking on the nozzles, resulting in a sterile surface. In comparison, the Bio Bidet BB-1000 doesn’t come with any sterilizing features, although its nozzles self-rinse with clean water before and after each use (all bidet seats do this).

Auto Wash

The Eco NOVA’s convenient auto wash button initiates a 90 second wash followed by a 4-minute dry using settings pre-selected by the manufacturer. The generous wash and dry intervals are among the longest on the market, virtually guaranteeing you’ll walk away totally clean and dry. The Bio Bidet BB-1000 doesn’t offer auto washing or its close cousin, user presets.

Comfort & Convenience Features

Wireless Remote Control

The Eco NOVA and Bio Bidet BB-1000 are each controlled with a wireless remote, but the remotes couldn’t be more different! The Eco NOVA’s remote is slim and thin, with a satisfying hand feel thanks to the stainless steel construction. It features small, raised black buttons and comes in a brushed rose gold finish that screams “luxury”.

In addition, the Eco NOVA’s remote is one of the only bidet remotes that uses a radio signal instead of infrared. This seemingly minor feature can make a world of difference in performance since radio signals aren’t interrupted by walls, dark colored paint or limited bathroom space. In comparison, many infrared remotes can struggle to work properly in bathrooms with the aforementioned features.

The Bio Bidet BB-1000 comes with a large plastic, panel-style remote with big, slightly raised buttons. This style isn’t the prettiest, but it’s a great option if you have dexterity limitations, tremors or plan to operate the remote with a body part other than your hands. The BB-1000’s remote uses an infrared signal versus radio signal. Most users don’t experience problems with their infrared remote, but infrared signals can sometimes perform poorly in areas that are tight on space or have dark walls.

Sittable Lid

Most bidet seat lids, including the lid on the Bio Bidet BB-1000, are purely decorative. Sitting on one of these lids can cause it to crack or damage the bidet seat’s electronics. The Eco NOVA, however, comes with a strong lid that is specially designed to support up to 400 pounds. This means you can use the Eco NOVA’s lid as a seat while you dress, trim toenails or help someone bathe.

Risk Free Trial

We love the Eco NOVA so much that we decided to include it in our Risk-Free Trial program! This perk lets you install and test out the Eco NOVA for 60 days. If you’re dissatisfied for any reason, simply package the seat back up and return it within the 60-day window for a full refund. The Bio Bidet BB-1000 isn’t eligible for a risk free trial, so once you open and install it, it’s yours to keep.

Final Thoughts

Both the Eco NOVA and Bio Bidet BB-1000 bring a lot to the table, but neither will be perfect for everyone. If you are buying on a budget and need a seat that’s under $600, the Bio Bidet BB-1000 will be your better bet. It’s also a great choice if you would benefit from having an enema wash or if you need a large remote with generously sized buttons. It won’t be a good fit if you’ve got a sensitive bottom or want unlimited warm wash water.

The Eco NOVA is a terrific choice if you want a bidet seat with a thin, sleek silhouette, extra powerful air dryer, sittable lid, unlimited warm wash water and nozzle sterilization. It’s also a great option if you want a classy remote that operates on a hardy radio signal. The deodorizer, night light and auto wash option round out the Eco NOVA’s list of perks. It won’t be the right fit if you need an enema wash, but it does come with a good water pressure range that is suitable for sensitive bottoms and firmer pressure preferences alike.
