Detailed Comparison of the Bio Bidet A8 Serenity and Bidet Toilet Seats American Standard Advanced Clean AC 2.0 SpaLet
The AC 2.0 SpaLet is a brand new bidet seat from American Standard, that was just rolled out in 2018. Below, we go through all the features that this seat has to offer and compare it to the popular Bio Bidet A8 Serenity.
Design
Both the Bio Bidet A8 and American Standard AC 2.0 have a smooth, sleek appearance with clean, soft curves, which make them very attractive stylistically. Additionally, these two seats are available in a crisp white color and made to accommodate elongated toilet seats. You will also find that both of these seat models possess soft closing lids in order to prevent damage from accidental slamming. Unfortunately, the AC 2.0 has a lesser weight limit at 264 lbs. In comparison, the A8 Serenity can accommodate those of a much higher weight, up to 400lbs.
Wash & Dry
Nozzles
The AC 2.0 comes equipped with dual nozzles that are adjustable to four different positions and provide front and rear washes with adjustable temperature and pressure settings. In comparison, the A8 Serenity has a slightly different set up and offers a single 2-1 nozzle for it’s various wash functions. The A8 nozzle adjusts to 5 different positions and also gives you the option to customize the ideal pressure and temperature settings for your body.
Unfortunately, the AC 2.0 is being made with plastic nozzles, which is not as desirable of a material as stainless steel. Stainless steel, which the A8 nozzles are made of, is a superior and more hygienic choice due to its germ and bacteria resistant properties. The nozzles on both of these seat models are self cleaning and offer pulsating massage washes, however the A8 also provides an oscillation function, while the AC 2.0 does not.
Water Flow Rate
A bidet seat’s water flow can contribute to the effectiveness and speed of the cleansing process. In this case, the A8 water flow rate is 0.18 gallons per minute and is close to twice as powerful as the AC 2.0’s rate of 0.10. If you are looking for a more powerful and faster clean, you will want to consider a bidet seat with a higher water flow rate, like the Bio Bidet A8.
Wide Spray
Another nice wash option offered on the A8 is the wide spray function, which is great for those looking for more water coverage. The wide spray can also speed up the wash process, so you can get clean and on your way a bit faster.
One Button Wash & Dry
This is a great feature for those who may be intimidated by programming and dealing with the multiple wash settings that a bidet seat offers. Bio Bidet’s A8 offers this convenient feature so that you can have an automatic wash and dry with just the touch of a button. This has also been known to be a very helpful and valuable function for those of a elderly age who want to benefit from using a bidet seat, but are looking for more ease and simplicity. The AC 2.0 SpaLet does not offer the one button wash and dry feature.
Aeration
Aeration, which is the infusion of air bubbles into the water stream, creates a more powerful cleansing effect and is almost always a permanent feature on bidet seats. While this is a great feature to have most of the time, the A8 gives the user the unique ability to turn off the aeration effect for a gentler, weaker stream if desired. Turning off aeration may be beneficial to those who suffer from hemorrhoids, extra sensitivity, or are recovering from certain surgeries. Like most bidet seats, the AC 2.0 offers a permanently aerated water stream.
Warm Air Dryer
One of the biggest drawbacks to the American Standard AC 2.0 SpaLet is its lack of a warm air dryer. The warm air dryer is a very valuable feature, especially for those who may have balance and coordination issues and are unable to safely wipe themselves. Not only does a warm air dryer add convenience in the bathroom, but it also allows the user to virtually eliminate the use of irritating and expensive toilet paper.
Aside from having a warm air dryer with adjustable temperature settings, it also offers adjustable power settings. With the A8 you can choose either the standard dry or the powerful turbo dry, which is great if you’re in a hurry and need a faster option.
Additional Details
User Presets
The user preset function is very convenient for those who will be sharing the bidet seat with a spouse or other household member. This function allows you to pre-program the desired wash settings for two different users without having to reconfigure everything each time. Out of these two seat models, the A8 is the only one that offers the user preset function.
Child Mode
If there are children in your household that would benefit from using a bidet seat, you may want to consider a seat that offers a child mode function, like the A8. Simply choose the child mode setting using the A8’s remote for a gentler wash suited for a youngster. The AC 2.0 doesn’t offer a child mode function.
LED Night Light
Another neat feature that the A8 offers is the integrated LED nightlight. This a very convenient setting that can be programmed via the remote and makes those night time bathroom visits a little easier.
Remote Controls
In comparing these two remotes, we can see that they are very different stylistically. The AC 2.0 has a horizontal, panel style control system with icons displaying the unit’s functions. On the other hand, the A8 has a sleek, vertically set dual-sided remote with the front side showing a simple layout of the seat’s basic functions, while the back-side displays the more advanced features. The back-side of the A8 remote also has a screen to further aid in programming the unit. While both of these remotes can be mounted to the wall for accessibility, the A8’s remote style also allows for it to be hand-held if desired.
Warranty
When it comes to warranties, the Bio Bidet company is usually a step ahead of the competition and this case is no exception. For the A8 Serenity, Bio Bidet offers a 3 year full warranty that can be upgraded to a generous 6 years. Comparatively, American Standard only offers a 1 year full warranty with no option to upgrade. Generally speaking, if you prefer to have extended coverage for your purchases, Bio Bidet is a great company to work with.
Final Thoughts
Although these two seats come in at a very similar price point, we can see through this comparison that the Bio Bidet A8 has more convenience features to offer than the American Standard AC 2.0. While the AC 2.0 is well constructed and does have some nice basic features like a heated seat, front & rear washes and a deodorizer, the A8 will give you these same features plus more. Although adding any bidet seat to your home will certainly upgrade your bathroom routine, if you looking for a seat that will accommodate a variety of needs, the A8 Serenity is the more versatile option between these two models.
