Detailed Comparison of the Brondell Swash 1000 and Bio Bidet BB-1700 Bliss Toilet Seats
If you are considering adding a bidet seat to your bathroom routine, chances are you have come across the Brondell and Bio Bidet brands. The Swash 1000 and BB-1700 are two popular seat models by these brands, with each one offering excellent and luxurious cleaning experiences. Below, we sort through the details and differences between these two seat models.
Design
Stylistically, both the Swash 1000 and BB-1700 have a sleek, high-end feel and either one would be a wonderful addition to any bathroom. As far as design, the BB-1700 does show off a more modern aesthetic, while the Swash 1000 has a very classic look. Both seats are available in a traditional white color, but if you prefer a shade of off-white, the Swash 1000 comes in a biscuit color as well. The Swash 1000 is also available in a round seat option in addition to elongated, while the BB-1700 is only made in elongated.
Lid
Normally, sitting on the toilet seat lid is something we take for granted and wouldn’t give a second thought to, but a sittable lid is a actually a rarity when it comes to bidet seats. Most bidet seat models store complicated hardware inside the seat, and the lid simply cannot hold the weight of a human without damage being done. The Swash 1000 is a unique exception in this situation and offers the convenience of a sittable lid that can generously hold up to 270 lbs. This is a great feature if you or household members regularly use the lid for activities such as painting or clipping toenails.
Remote & Controls
The Swash 1000 comes with an intuitive, wall-mountable push button remote for controlling the seat functions, while the BB-1700 comes equipped with a side panel control that connects to the wall next to the seat for easy access.
Wash
Both of these seat models offer high-quality, comfortable feminine and posterior washes to give you the ultimate cleaning experience. Additionally, each seat possesses unique wash options. For example, the Swash 1000 has an additional wide spray feature, while the BB-1700 offers a massaging pulse wash as well as a soothing sitzbath option.
Nozzles
One of the biggest differences between these two seat models is the nozzle set up. The Brondell Swash 1000 uses dual nozzles with one dedicated to the front, or feminine wash and the other to the rear wash. The BB-1700 is equipped with just a single nozzle that has three different spouts for each of its wash functions, front, rear and enema wash. Furthermore, both seat models also have a nozzle oscillation function.
Favorably, the nozzles on both the Swash 1000 and BB-1700 are made of hygienic stainless steel. Stainless steel is without a doubt one of the best materials for bidet seat nozzles, since it prevents the build-up of germs and bacteria. The nozzles on both seat models routinely perform a self cleaning rinse with water, although, the Swash 1000 also has an extra sterilization option with a sanitizing silver-nano solution
While it is rare that the nozzles on your seat will ever need to be replaced, it is worth noting that the BB-1700 nozzles feature easy, one-touch removal if necessary. In contrast, the Swash 1000 nozzles are not easily removable.
Another noteworthy quality of the Swash 1000 is the ability to be adjust the nozzles to seven different positions. Impressively, this is more than most other seats on the market today.
Water Flow
The Swash 1000 has a water flow rate of 0.11 gallons per minute, while the BB-1700’s flow rate is nearly twice as much at 0.18 gallons per minute. The higher the water flow rate, the more powerful the water stream will be, therefore giving you a faster and more efficient wash.
Wide Spray
As mentioned above, one of the many different wash options available through the Swash 1000 is the adjustable wide spray. This is great wash feature that provides additional coverage if so desired. The wide spray function is not offered by the BB-1700.
Enema Wash
One of the great wash options offered by the BB-1700’s 3-in-1 nozzle is the enema wash function, which utilizes Bio Bidet’s patented vortex stream technology. Providing relief for those suffering from constipation, the enema wash pushes a powerful, circular stream of water into the rectum to help loosen any stubborn stool. Unfortunately, an enema wash is not an option on the Swash 1000.
One Button Wash & Dry
Those looking for the convenience and ease of an automatic wash and dry at the touch of a button will love the one button wash & dry offered by the BB-1700. This feature allows you to skip over the programming and multiple options for a simple wash and dry option. The one button wash & dry is also known to be a must have feature for those of a elderly age who will be using the seat and may be intimidated by numerous programming options. The Swash 1000 doesn’t offer this feature.
Other Differences
Child Mode
If you have children who may benefit from a bidet seat or just are interested in trying it, the child mode function offered by the BB-1700 may be something to consider. The child mode can easily be programmed and controlled by the side control panel and provides a gentler water stream, appropriate for a young person.
Warranty
Bio Bidet offers a 3 year full warranty as a standard option, a bit more coverage than Brondell’s 3 year limited warranty, and both brands offer great upgrade options for additional insurance. With the BB-1700 you can get a full warranty up to 6 years, while you can upgrade the Swash 1000 warranty to 5 years.
Final Thoughts
Whether you are inclined to choose the Swash 1000 or the BB-1700 will depend on which features are more important to you and your household. If you prefer a sittable lid and the dual nozzle design, the Swash 1000 is the way to go. Alternatively, if constipation is an issue for you or someone in your household, we’d strongly encourage you to consider a seat with the enema wash function like the BB-1700. Regardless of your choice, both these bidet seat models are high quality products that will definitely change your bathroom routine for the better.
