Both the Bio Bidet Bliss BB-2000 and the TOTO S550e WASHLET utilize the latest, innovative technology for convenience and comfort. While you couldn’t go wrong with either of these seats, we’ll walk through the specific differences between them so that you can choose the best product for your needs.
The Bio Bidet BB-2000 is a very popular model and comes in a sleek, elegant design. With the BB-2000 you also have the option to choose between 2 seat colors, white and beige, as well as 3 different remote colors: white, beige and black. As of 2019, Bio Bidet has discontinued the beige option for both the seat and the remote for the BB-2000, which is now offered in only white. The TOTO S550e not only comes in the white and beige colors, but is also available in two different trim options. Choose either the classic trim featuring a bevel edged lid, or the modern and smooth contemporary trim to match your design aesthetic.
Both the Bio Bidet BB-2000 and the TOTO S550e provide unlimited warm wash water, but they do so in different ways. The BB-2000 features a hybrid heater that’s essentially a mash-up of a tank and instant system. There’s always a small tank of warm water on hand, so there’s consistently warm water from the get-go. Then, once the tank depletes, the instant heater kicks on and begins heating the water on demand. The instant heaters on some hybrid systems aren’t powerful enough to keep up with the seat’s water flow, meaning the water eventually turns cool. That’s not the case with the BB-2000, which has a powerful instant heating element and genuinely provides unlimited warm water. In comparison, the TOTO S550e has a ceramic water heater that warms the water on demand from start to finish. While this method is a bit more energy efficient than a hybrid heater, there’s the possibility of a quick burst of cool water at the start of the wash.
One big feature that differentiates these two seats is the Bio Bidet BB-2000’s enema wash setting, which utilizes Bio Bidet’s patented vortex water stream for a powerful cleaning experience. If someone in your household suffers from constipation, the enema wash is a function that you most likely will want your seat to have, and the BB-2000 is an excellent choice for this reason.
Both of these seat models have fairly standard water flow rates, but the BB-2000’s is slightly higher at 0.18 gallons per minute as opposed to the S550e’s 0.1 gallon per minute. One of the benefits of the higher flow rate is an accelerated cleaning time, meaning less time spent in the bathroom.
The Bio Bidet BB-2000 offers a one button wash and dry option for added convenience while the TOTO S550e does not.
The Bio Bidet BB-2000 is equipped with a single 3 in 1 stainless steel nozzle that can easily be taken off for deep cleaning or switched out for a new one if needed. On the other hand, the TOTO S550e comes with a single plastic nozzle that is not easily replaceable. If you needed to remove the nozzle for any reason, you’d need to package the seat up and mail it to TOTO for servicing. Even so, the S550e does offer nozzle sterilization with EWATER+, while the BB-2000 does not have this feature. Impressively, the nozzles on both seat models are adjustable for maximum user comfort, rinse themselves with clean water after each use, and offer an oscillating spray option.
The TOTO S550e offers a wide spray option that provides greater cleansing coverage than the standard posterior or feminine wash settings. The Bio Bidet BB-2000 doesn’t have a wide spray wash option but does feature nozzle oscillation, which increases cleansing coverage (please note that the TOTO S550e also offers an oscillating spray option).
If you are looking for a seat with a lid that can be programmed to automatically open, the TOTO S550e will be your best choice as the Bio Bidet BB-2000 does not offer this feature. However, both seat models do feature a soft closing lid that eliminates annoying slamming.
One great feature that the TOTO S550e offers is the ability to save preferred wash options for two different users. This is a very convenient feature for those who share the seat with a spouse or someone who has different needs and preferences. The BB-2000 does not offer a user preset function.
The Bio Bidet BB-2000 offers a slightly higher weight limit at 400 lbs, as opposed to the TOTO S550e’s 320 lb weight limit.
If an extended warranty is a priority to you, you will appreciate the Bio Bidet BB-2000’s 3 year full warranty with the ability to extend it up to 6 years. The TOTO S550e offers a 1 year full warranty with no option to upgrade.
Though there are differences, both the Bio Bidet Bliss BB-2000 and the TOTO S550e are wonderful and stylish additions to any bathroom. Whether you are in need of the powerful enema wash that the BB-2000 offers, or you prefer the automatically opening lid and convenient user presets that the S550e can give you, both seats offer a high level of performance and durability that will keep you feeling fresh for years to come.
