One of the unique things about the TOTO S550e is the option to choose between two different trim styles so you can get the great features you need in the perfect design for your bathroom. Choose either the sleek and streamlined contemporary trim, or the elegant, classic trim with a beveled edge. While only available in one trim, the R1063 also features a classy beveled edge design that will look great with almost any decor. Both seat models can be purchased in a classic white color, but the S550e is also available in beige for those looking for an off-white option.
If you happen to have a round toilet seat, the Blooming R1063 is offered in a round option as well as elongated. It’s also worth noting that the Blooming R1063 is one of the more versatile seats on the market today and can even accommodate difficult to fit French curve toilet seat models like the the Kohler Rialto, San Raphael and Rosario. While the TOTO S550e is only available in elongated, the TOTO S350e offers the same features as the S550e but is designed for use with round seats.
If you like to keep up with the latest technology, you will love the impressive automatic opening lid featured by the S550e. The lid can be programmed to open when the toilet is approached, or it can be opened via the remote. Whichever your preference, it definitely adds a cool, futuristic element to your bathroom. Furthermore, both the TOTO S550e and Blooming R1063 include a soft closing lid function, which prevents accidental slamming.
Both the TOTO S550e and Blooming R1063 come equipped with a single 2 in 1 nozzle for performing their front and rear wash functions. Additionally, these nozzles also facilitate other soothing cleansing options like oscillating wash and pulse wash.
One noted difference between the nozzles is the material they are made of. The Blooming R1063 offers an aluminum nozzle, while the S550e nozzle is still made of less desirable plastic.
For added hygiene, The TOTO S550e nozzle automatically goes through an on-demand sterilization cycle with EWATER+, which is a sanitizing solution of electrolyzed water.
The water flow rate of a bidet seat gives an indication of what sort of water pressure and strength you will be getting. The higher the flow rate, the stronger the water stream will be. Therefore, a stronger water stream will create a faster, more effective wash. The TOTO S550e has a flow rate of 0.1 gallons per minute, while the Blooming R1063’s flow rate is nearly twice as high at 0.18 gallons per minute. Consequently, you can expect a slightly more powerful wash experience with the R1063 seat.
A nice option offered on the TOTO S550e is the wide spray function, which is great for those looking for more water coverage. The wide spray can also speed up the wash process, so you can get clean and on your way a bit faster. Although the Blooming R1063 does not have a wide spray feature, its higher water flow rate does partially compensate for this.
One Button Wash & Dry is a great feature for those who may be intimidated by multiple programming options, or for those who prefer not to mess with different settings with each use. This automatic function, which is included on the Blooming R1063, gives you a basic wash and dry at the touch of button and ensures a simple and convenient experience. This feature is also an excellent option for elderly users who need the extra simplicity for their bathroom routine but still want to benefit from using the bidet seat. The TOTO S550e does not offer the automatic wash & dry function.
The S550e comes equipped with a high quality deodorizer that helps combat smelly bathroom odors. This automatic function pulls air through a filter and neutralizes any foul odors, leaving your bathroom smelling fresh and pleasant. The R1063 does not offer a deodorizer.
PREMIST is a great feature that promotes hygiene and helps cut down on time spent cleaning your toilet. Before each use, the TOTO S550e will automatically PREMIST the entire toilet bowl. This prevents residue from sticking to the bowl for an overall cleaner experience.
A user preset function is an excellent option to utilize if you will be sharing your bidet seat with a spouse or other household member. This feature allows you to save your favorite wash settings so you don’t have to reconfigure your options with every use. The TOTO S550e allows you to conveniently program up to two user presets. Unfortunately, the Blooming R1063 does not offer this feature.
A unique option on the Blooming R1063 is the ability to choose your style of remote. One version is a small, standard size remote with flat button functionality and a screen for choosing options. The other option is a large, panel style remote that also has flat button functionality. This large style remote is a great option for anyone with physical limitations or dexterity issues since its design makes it easier to operate. The S550e includes sleek, dual sided remote for programming. The front side of the remote shows a simple display of options, while the back side has a screen for choosing more advanced features.
R1063 Remote Styles:
If extended warranty coverage is a priority, you will appreciate Blooming Bidet’s 3 year full warranty that comes with the R1063. In contrast, TOTO only offers a 1 year full warranty with the S550e. Neither company offers warranty extensions with these seat models.
Through this comparison, we can see that both of these bidet seat models offer some great features. If you prefer the auto-open lid, convenient user presets and deodorizer, the TOTO S550e may be best for you. However, if you are trying to fit a more uncommon french curve toilet seat, or if you would benefit from the large style remote and the one button wash & dry, the Blooming R1063 is also a great option. Ultimately, it comes down to the needs of your household and which features are most important to you and your family.
