Detailed Comparison of the Swash 1400 and S350e WASHLET

In this comparison, both seats are fantastic. However, all things considered we gave the win to the Brondell Swash 1400 bidet seat for a few different reasons. Read all about it below, and don’t forget to look at our final thoughts at the bottom!

Look and Feel

Cord and Hose Concealment

Those who try bidet seats fall in love, but the unsightly hose and power connections can be a bit of a sore spot with any bidet seat owners. Both the Swash 1400 and the TOTO S350e offer a way to conceal these eyesores, making unsightly cords and hoses a thing of the past. Both go about it in very different ways though.

The TOTO S350e WASHLET uses what TOTO calls “connect+”. On the positive side, this system does a great job hiding cords and water lines. On the down side, it ONLY works with a select few TOTO toilets that have the connect+ system. Because of this, some customers will buy a TOTO S350e WASHLET only to discover that their toilet does not support connect+, leaving the cord and hose out in the open despite hose and cord concealment listed as an option. On the other hand, the Brondell Swash 1400 bidet seat has a little inset pouch where the cord and hose discreetly sit, and this concealment pouch works regardless of the toilet.

The fact that the Swash 1400 offers the same functionally as the S350e, but does it with any toilet, earns it the win in this department. Regardless of your toilet, the Brondell Swash 1400 bidet seat will look beautiful as it blends into your bathroom decor.

Comfort and Convenience

Sittable Lid

Those new to the bidet seat world might be wondering what we mean by a sittable lid. Bidet seats tend to be a bit taller in the back, and because of this, making a toilet seat lid that one can sit on is a bit tricky. The Brondell Swash 1400 bidet seat has a sittable lid, the TOTO s350 does not. Want to sit on the lid while painting your toenails, or drying your feet? You’ll want the Swash 1400, it’s that simple.

Auto Opening Lid and Seat

This feature is a head turner to say the least! Convenient? Yes! But mostly it’s just fun to hear your friends reaction the first time they walk into the bathroom and see the lid lift without them doing anything! TOTO S350e WASHLET offers this, the Swash 1400 does not.

One Button Wash and Dry

Press a button and relax, you’re done. If you decide to get the Brondell Swash 1400 this dream will be your reality. The “Auto” button on the Brondell Swash 1400 remote runs through a full wash cycle, followed by a full dry cycle. This allows you to press one button and let the seat take care of the rest. For those living with elderly relatives who might get confused or overwhelmed by complicated remotes, this feature is a MUST. They can forget about all the buttons but one. With the TOTO S350e, on the other hand, you’ll need to press “wash” followed by the “dry” button. Sure, pressing two buttons is not the end of the world, but isn’t just having to press one better?

Easy to Replace Deodorizer Filter

Both the Swash 1400 and S350e WASHLET offer deodorizers that are designed to last the life of the bidet seat. However, if you’ve owned a seat in the past, you may have noticed that over time, the effectiveness of the deodorizer lessens. If you decide to change the deodorizer, the process can be a pain…The Brondell Swash 1400 has made it very easy to change the deodorizer should you run into this problem.

Wash Features

Nozzle Sterilization

Most people do not see nozzle sterilization as a requirement but it is certainly nice to have! Both the Swash 1400 and the TOTO S350e offer nozzle sterilization but use different (yet equally effective) methods.

The S350e offers what TOTO calls EWATER+. This is a clever condensing of the term: “electrolyzed water”. EWATER+ is “created” by applying very low voltage to the water. Doing this changes the sodium ions into sodium hydroxide, which is a powerful disinfectant.

The Swash 1400 bidet seat takes a different route and uses Silvernano technology, which is currently used in most hospitals to sterilize tools used for surgery before the surgery starts. Which is better? In our opinion, both are equally as effective. It’s important to note that with either of these seats, the sterilization only applies to the nozzles. Neither of these seats sterilize all the water used for the wash themselves. To get this, you’ll want to consider installing an inline iodine filter.

Width Adjustment

Both of these seats offer width adjustments, but the Brondell Swash 1400 is more versatile with 3 total width settings that can be used with any wash. Between these 3 settings, the Swash 1400 also offers better range of widths than the TOTO S350e, making it the hands down winner.

Nozzle Positioning

When looking for a bidet seat with great nozzle range, the Brondell Swash 1400 is the only seat to consider. Designed to offer better range than any other seat on the market, these long, ultra-adjustable nozzles offer 7 positioning adjustments. Get the Swash 1400 and you’ll have reach, and nozzle positioning precision other seats can’t match. The TOTO S350e offers adjustable nozzles as well, but their setup is more in line with most other seats on the market, so they are a standard length and offer standard reach along with 3 total position options.

Other Differences

Warranties and Customer Care

While TOTO is a better known name in the United States than Brondell, should you decide to go with a TOTO seat, you’ll get stuck with a 1 year warranty. If you go with the Swash 1400, you’ll get a 3 year limited warranty, which can be further upgraded to a 5 year warranty should you so desire. When it comes to quality, both of these seats are top notch, but should something go wrong, repairs are often expensive (hundreds of dollars). This makes the safety net of a good warranty a welcome addition to an already great seat.

We’ve also seen that Brondell customer service is a bit better. If you have a problem, Brondell will help you troubleshoot and hopefully resolve it at home instead of having to send it in. Due to these considerations, the Swash 1400 wins with flying colors when it comes to warranties and customer care.

Final Thoughts

For a host of reasons the Brondell Swash 1400 bidet seat takes the cake in this comparison. While the TOTO S350e WASHLET is a great seat, it’s very hard to beat the feature heavy, luxurious Swash 1400. Some of our favourites features on the Swash 1400 are the hidden hose and power cables, longer reach of nozzles with more position options, and multiple wide wash settings. For those who feel frustrated by cords showing, limited nozzle reach or wash coverage in the past, the innovative Swash 1400 bidet seat by Brondell is a breath of fresh air.
