Detailed Comparison of the TOTO Neorest AC and the TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET Combo
Look and Feel
Overall Look and Feel
The first difference most people notice between the TOTO Neorest AC and the TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET is the mounting and shape. The TOTO Neorest AC features a modern, angular silhouette and is a wall-hung unit, which creates the illusion of it floating over the bathroom floor. Wall-hung units like the TOTO Neorest AC are more compact than floor-mounted units, so they’re a great option for small bathrooms. Other than saving space, there’s no practical advantage to a wall-hung unit over a floor-mounted unit, aside from personal aesthetic preference. The floor-mounted TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET is an attractive unit but isn’t quite as sleek and streamlined as the TOTO Neorest AC. It does, however, have an edge when it comes to color as it’s available in both white and beige, while the Neorest AC only comes in white.
Night Light
Having an illuminated toilet bowl may not be a necessity, but it sure is a nice amenity for making nighttime bathroom trips safer and easier. The good news is that the TOTO Neorest AC comes with a built-in nightlight, so you’ll get all the benefits of a nightlight without having to purchase and install an after market version. The TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET doesn’t have a built-in nightlight, so
Functionality
EWATER+
The TOTO Neorest AC keeps its bowl and nozzles hygienic with EWATER+, electrolyzed water that has sanitizing properties. After each use, the Neorest AC automatically cleanse its nozzles and bowl with EWATER+ to eliminate any residue or bacteria. The TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET doesn’t have EWATER+, so it uses regular water to rinse its bowl and nozzles after use.
Actilight
The TOTO Neorest AC leaves no stone unturned when it comes to unit hygiene, and its one of the few TOTO integrated units to feature state-of-the-art Actilight self-cleaning technology. Actilight uses a combination of UV light, EWATER+ and the bowl’s ceFiONtect glaze to break down and rinse away residue, thus keeping the unit clean without requiring any harsh chemicals. While the TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET does feature the CeFiONtect glaze, it doesn’t offer Actilight, so users can plan on needing to clean their unit about as frequently as they would a traditional toilet.
Water Heater
While you’ll enjoy warm wash water with both the TOTO Neorest AC and the TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET, the units differ in the types of water heating systems they use. The TOTO Neorest AC features an instant water heating system, which provides unlimited warm water for washing. This means that no matter how long or how often you use the unit, it will never run out of warm water. In comparison, the TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET has a tank water heating system. The downside to this type of heating system is that once the warm water tank is depleted, such as by an extra-long wash cycle or repeated use in a short time span, the unit switches to using cool water until the warm water tank has a chance to refill.
Wide Front Cleanse
Just about every bidet on the market features front cleansing, which is specifically designed for female users, but far fewer offer an additional wide front cleansing option. Wide front cleansing is designed to cover even greater surface area than a traditional front cleanse, which minimizes the amount of body repositioning required for thorough cleaning. The TOTO Neorest AC offers wide front cleansing, while the TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET does not.
Final Thoughts
The TOTO Neorest AC is top of its class when it comes to style, function and features, so it’s not surprising that it comes out ahead of the TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET in nearly all of these categories. Though the TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET doesn’t offer as many features as its competition, it’s nevertheless a quality unit with a track record of good performance, all at a much lower price point than the TOTO Neorest AC and other units like it. If you’re willing to forego self-cleaning technology, a nightlight, EWATER+, instant water heating system, and wide front cleansing, the TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET is an attractive option, and it’s an especially great choice to consider if you’re in need of a beige unit. If we can help make the decision easier by answering any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
