How to install a Bidet Seat on an RV toilet – RV Bidet VIDEO

Installing an electric bidet seat in an RV can be a little different than a standard home installation, but with the right toilet and a few extra parts, it can easily be done. In this guide, we’ll show you how to install a bidet seat on an RV toilet. We will be using the Infinity Eaze z3 (formerly known as the Cascade 3000) on a Dometic 310 RV Toilet.

The Dometic 310 works well with this setup due to the removable rear cover, which creates enough space for the bidet seat to fit properly. Many RV toilets are too compact for electric bidet seats, so choosing the right toilet is one of the most important parts of the process.

Why Most RV Toilets Don’t Work with Bidet Seats

Unlike standard residential toilets, RV toilets are designed to save as much space as possible. Because of this compact design many RV toilets do not have enough room behind the seat to fit the bidet’s mounting bracket.

When evaluating whether your RV toilet will work with a bidet seat, look for:

  • Adequate flat mounting space behind the seat bolts (generally at least 1.5”).
  • A removable rear cover (if less than 1.5” of space is available).
  • Access to both water and electrical connections nearby

The Dometic 310 checks all of these boxes, so we are good to go.

Tools & Parts Needed

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Small flathead screwdriver
  • Crescent wrench
  • Rag or towel

Additional RV Installation Parts

Unlike a standard residential toilet installation, RV setups require a few extra plumbing pieces. If you purchase the Infinity Eaze z3 from Many Bidets, we do have a RV pipe extension available as well. You will need:

  • 1/2″ x 1/2″ x 1/2″ T-connector
(one female connection and two male connections)
  • Pipe extension assembly

Step 1: Remove the Existing Toilet Seat

Start by removing the current seat from your RV toilet. Locate the plastic covers over the seat bolts and use a small flathead screwdriver to gently pry the covers open. Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the seat bolts from the top. You should be able to hold the plastic nut underneath with your hand while loosening the screws

Most RV toilets use plastic hardware with a small nub on the underside, allowing you to hold it without needing a wrench. Once the bolts are removed, lift off the seat and remove the rear plastic cover from the toilet if applicable. Removing this rear section is important since it creates the additional clearance needed for the bidet seat.

Step 2: Shut Off and Drain the Water Supply

Before disconnecting any plumbing connections make sure you turn off the RV’s water supply to the toilet. Flush the toilet to drain as much water as possible from the line. You will want to hold down the flush lever until water stops flowing. This will help minimize any spills from the water lines during installation.

Step 3: Disconnect the Water Supply Hose

Now it’s time to disconnect the existing water line. Place a rag underneath the connection to catch any remaining water. Using a crescent wrench, loosen the supply hose connection and carefully disconnect the hose from the toilet. Even after draining the line, it’s normal for a small amount of water to spill out.

Step 4: Install the RV T-Connector

Next, install the specialized RV T-connector. Thread the 1/2″ T-connector onto the toilet’s water inlet. Make sure you have the connection lined up straight to avoid cross-threading. Start by hand tightening and finish with a crescent wrench to get it snug. Be careful not to overtighten the fitting, as this can damage the threads or fittings. This T-connector creates a new water supply branch that will feed the bidet seat.

Step 5: Reconnect the Toilet Water Supply

You may now reconnect the Dometic 310’s original water line. Verify the rubber washer is still installed inside the hose connection. Reattach the water supply hose to the new connector, hand tightening again before getting it snug with a crescent wrench.

Step 6: Connect the Pipe Extension Adapter

Next you will need to temporarily remove the vacuum breaker from the back of the toilet. This is generally a pretty tight fit, so it may require some wiggling back and forth to get loose. Once removed, securely attach the pipe extension adapter to the vacuum breaker in order to create additional space for the bidet seat.

You can now reattach the vacuum breaker, making sure that the pipe remains upright once installed.

Step 7: Attach the Bidet Mounting Bracket

Place the mounting bracket over the bolt holes with the rounded side facing away from the toilet bowl. Slide the bolts through the mounting plate and the toilet. Attach the rubber cone washer, plastic washer and nut to the bottom side of the bolt.

Step 8: Install the Bidet Seat

Line up the groves on the bottom of the seat with the grooves on the mounting bracket. Push back firmly until you hear the seat snap into place.

If you need to adjust the position of the bidet, loosen the bolts of the mounting bracket and gently slide forward or back until you reach the desired location and then retighten the bolts down. It is normal to see a little overhang on this setup, due to the compact nature of the Dometic 310 toilet.

Step 9: Connect Bidet Seat to Water and Electric

With the provided hose, attach the elbow-side to the bidet seat (hand tight). Connect the opposite side of the hose to the t-connector. Turn the water supply back on slowly, checking all connections carefully for leaks as you do. Ensure that you have the seat securely mounted and the lid can open and close freely before plugging in to an electrical outlet.

If everything looks good, your RV bidet installation is complete! You will want to make sure you install the batteries in your remote control before testing the unit. The Infinity Eaze z3 comes equipped with a seat sensor to prevent it from being operated without someone seated on it. If you want to test out the features before sitting on it, you can place a hand or damp rag over the seat sensor (typically about half way up the seat on the right hand side). You will hear a beep and the pre rinse cycle will start when the seat sensor is engaged.

Final Thoughts

Installing an electric bidet seat in an RV takes a little more planning than a standard home installation, but the comfort and convenience can be well worth it. Choosing a compatible toilet like the Dometic 310 RV Toilet and using the proper RV installation fittings makes the process much smoother.
