Detailed Comparison of the TOTO Neorest 550H and the TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET Combo

We want you to find the best unit for your needs, and we know that some of the terms used in the quick reference table above may not be familiar. We’ve explained each difference in greater detail below so that you can be confident that you’re making the right choice for you!

Look and Feel

Overall Look and Feel

Both the Neorest 550H and the G400 Integrated Toilet and WASHLET are available in beige and white, enabling them to blend well with any bathroom décor, but they do differ in their overall look. The 550H features long, clean lines that lend it a streamlined look while the G400’s appearance is a bit less sleek. Ultimately your sense of style and your bathroom’s design will determine which unit’s look is right for you.

Night Light

We don’t consider a night light to be a make or break feature, but it is certainly a helpful perk that makes using the restroom in the dark an easier and safer experience. The Neorest 550H comes with an already built in nightlight, while the G400 does not. Users who opt for the G400 and desire a night light can purchase an after market night light and install it themselves. While not as streamlined as an already built in night light, the after market versions offer the same benefits if you’re willing to spend a little extra money and put in the time to install it.

Functionality

EWATER+

The TOTO Neorest 550H uses sterile, electrolyzed water called EWATER+ to PREMIST the bowl and clean the unit’s nozzles between each use, keeping the unit extremely clean. The G400 also cleans its nozzles between uses and offers a PREMIST

feature, which helps reduce the amount of waste that sticks to the bowl, but it does not use sterile EWATER+ to do so.

Instant Water Heater

A unit’s water heating method can affect the user’s experience in a noticeable way, so it’s an important feature to consider when comparing units. The Neorest 550H features an instant warm water heating system, which means that the user can count on enjoying warm water during the wash function no matter how long or how frequently the unit is used. On the other hand, the G400 has a tank water heater, which provides 1 to 2 minutes of warm water for washing. Once the warm water is used up, the unit will use cool or cold water to wash until it the tank has a chance to refill, which takes 3 to 5 minutes.

Wide Front Cleanse

Wash options are another feature worth considering when purchasing a unit. Many ladies report that they appreciate the Neorest 550H’s  wide front wash option, which offers a front cleanse that covers greater surface area than other washes. The G400 does not offer this wash option.

Final Thoughts

The TOTO Neorest 550H and the G400 are both great units, so deciding which is right for you will depend on what you consider to be “must have” features. If a sleek look, built in nightlight, sanitizing EWATER+, unlimited warm water and a wide front cleanse wash are important to you, the Neorest 550H will arguably meet your needs best between the two. If these features aren’t on your wishlist, the G400 is a good alternative.
