Detailed Comparison of the TOTO Neorest 750H and the Bio Bidet IB-385 Toilet and Bidet Seat
The Neorest 750H and the Bio Bidet IB-385 are excellent units in their respective classes. The Neorest 750H offers a myriad of top tier features designed to provide the ultimate user experience. The Bio Bidet IB-385 doesn’t have as many bells and whistles, but it does offer a quality option at a lower price point. Below, we’ve provided an in depth discussion of each feature mentioned in the quick reference table above to help you decide whether the feature packed Neorest 750H or simpler Bio Bidet IB-385 fits you best.
Look and Feel
Both the TOTO Neorest 750H and the Bio Bidet IB-385 are beautiful, stylish units that are sure to bring a new level of sophistication to any bathroom space, but we feel that the 750H has a slight edge when it comes to aesthetic appeal. Both are available in white only, so if you need a beige unit, we recommend taking a look at the TOTO Neorest 550H.
Convenience
Auto Opening
The TOTO Neorest 750H’s auto open feature offers unbeatable convenience and is sure to wow your guests thanks to a sensor that opens and closes the unit’s lid as a user approaches or leaves it. The Bio Bidet IB-385 takes a simpler approach and features a lid that must be raised or lowered manually, just like most other toilets.
Nightlight
The TOTO Neorest 750H offers a sleek built in nightlight, which makes using the restroom both easier and safer in low light situations. While the Bio Bidet IB-385 doesn’t offer this amenity, after market night lights can be purchased and installed by users who want this feature. Users who go this route will sacrifice some aesthetic appeal and convenience but can expect the same level of functionality.
WASH
Water Flow
When it comes to water flow, determining whether less flow or more flow is best depends on who you ask. More water flow typically means the best wash, and that’s ultimately what bidets are all about. That said, less water flow has some benefits too, namely when it comes to economizing one’s home water use and conserving the planet’s resources. The TOTO Neorest 750H offers a thorough wash but only uses 0.11 gallons per minute, making it an economical and eco-friendly choice. The Bio Bidet IB-385 uses a bit more water, coming in at 0.18 gallons per minute, and ensuring an excellent wash experience.
Water Heating
Comfort is important, so it’s good to know what type of water heating options are available when you’re deciding between units. The TOTO Neorest 750H offers an instant water heating system, which provides the user with unlimited warm wash water that only ever varies in temperature by a degree or two. The Bio Bidet IB-385 is a bit different in that is has a tank water heater. The tank holds enough warm water for a few minutes of washing. When the warm water runs out, the unit uses cool or cold water until it has a chance to refill, which takes around 3 to 5 minutes.
Other Differences
Weight Limit
Users looking for a unit with a high weight limit may want to consider the Bio Bidet IB-385, which is able to support up to 450 lbs according to manufacturer guidelines. The TOTO Neorest 750H is a sturdy unit as well, but its weight limit is 350 lbs.
Flushing
The TOTO Neorest 750H offers two flush options, 0.8 gallons per flush and 1.0 gallon per flush, both of which offer good flush power, so that you can use what you need without unnecessarily wasting water. The Bio Bidet IB-385 offers only one flush option, 1.6 gallons per flush, which does the job well but isn’t as economical or eco-friendly as the 750H.
PREMIST
The TOTO Neorest 750H is easy to keep clean thanks to the PREMIST feature. PREMIST coats the walls of the bowl with an extremely thin layer of water prior to use, and this, in combination with the bowl’s special CeFIONtect coating, helps prevent waste from sticking to the bowl. This leads to a cleaner unit and reduces the frequency with which you’ll need to clean the unit. The Bio Bidet IB-385 doesn’t have a PREMIST feature, so it’s bowl will require the same level of cleaning maintenance as your average toilet.
EWATER+
EWATER+ is TOTO’s process for sterilizing the water used for pre-misting the toilet bowl and cleaning the unit’s nozzles after use. Using a small electrical charge, the water is electrolyzed, which gives it an antibacterial effect, thus sanitizing the Neorest 750H’s bowl and nozzles without using any harsh, environmentally unfriendly chemicals. The Bio Bidet IB-385 does automatically clean its nozzles, but it uses regular, unsterilized water to do so.
Actilight
The Neorest 750H takes clean to a whole new level thanks to its state of the art Actilight technology. Using a UV light in the unit’s lid, in combination with the PREMIST feature, EWATER+ and oxygen, actilight works to break down and wash away dirt and other residue from the unit’s bowl. The Bio Bidet IB-385 doesn’t have this feature, so you’ll need to plan on using good old fashioned elbow grease to keep the unit clean, much like you would with a traditional toilet bowl.
Customer Support
In our experience, Bio Bidet offers some of the best customer service in the business, while TOTO has gotten some mixed reviews from our users. For this reason, we give Bio Bidet the win in the customer service category.
Final Thoughts
The TOTO Neorest 750H offers a gorgeous unit and truly unforgettable experience, thanks to amenities like auto opening, a built in nightlight, unlimited warm water, along with a variety of features designed to keep the unit clean and sanitary. In addition, it takes home the win in terms of economizing water and reducing environmental impact, while still maintaining top notch performance. This unit won’t disappoint when it comes to comfort and convenience, so if you’re able to spend the money, it’s an excellent option. The Bio Bidet IB-385 is simpler in terms of what it offer but nevertheless is a stylish, quality unit that may appeal to users wishing to trade features for a lower price.
