Look and Feel

Overall Look and Feel

The TOTO Neorest NX1 is one of the most elegant integrated units on the market today, with smooth, rounded curves and a simple silhouette. That said, it only comes in white, so if you’re looking for a beige unit, this one may not be the model for you. The TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLETn isn’t as sleek but still adds style to any restroom and is available in both white an beige. Your bathroom’s color scheme and your own style preferences ultimately matter most when it comes to deciding which look you prefer. It’s worth noting that TOTO updated the seat design of the NX1 to provide increased stability and support, and it’s now even more comfortable than the seats on previous models, including the TOTO G400.

Night Light

No one likes fumbling around the bathroom in the dark and with the TOTO Neorest NX1 you won’t have to thanks to the unit’s built-in nightlight, which illuminates the bowl with a gentle glow. The TOTO G400 doesn’t come with a night light, though users who consider this a necessity can order and self-install an after-market version. The after-market nightlights aren’t as sleek as the built-in kind, but they function just the same, are easy to install, and come in a variety of colors.

Funtionality

Flushing

Both the NX1 and the G400 offer TOTO’s renowned Tornado Flushing system. One big difference between the two is that the Neorest NX2 features a pump that increases the strength of the flush without significantly increasing noise, whereas the G400 flushing system relies on gravity for its power. Another difference is that TOTO redesigned the NX1’s flush system to provide an even more powerful flush that targets the hardest to clean parts of the bowl.

EWATER+

As one of TOTO’s premiere units, the Neorest NX1 features the EWATER+ sanitizing system, which uses electrolyzed water to PREMIST the bowl and to disinfect the unit’s bowl and nozzles after each use. The TOTO G400 doesn’t offer this feature and instead uses ordinary, non-sterile water for PREMIST and to rinse the nozzles and bowl.

Water Heater

One of the big benefits to TOTO’s integrated bidet and toilet units is the warm water wash feature. With the TOTO Neorest NX1, you’ll never run out of warm wash water thanks to the unit’s instant water heating system. The TOTO G400, on the other hand, features a tank heating system, which keeps a finite amount of warm water on hand for washing. It’s plenty for a standard wash, but you might run out with repeated use or an extra long wash cycle. At that point, the unit switches to uses room temperature water until the warm water tank can refill.

Wide Front Cleanse

The wide front cleanse option offered by the TOTO Neorest NX1 provides users with superior wash coverage for thorough cleansing of the feminine region. The TOTO G400 offers a front cleanse setting but not a wide front cleanse option.

Bowl Design

The TOTO NX1 features a unique, rimless bowl that keeps splashing to a minimum while eliminating anyplace for bacteria or dirt to lurk and making cleaning easier than ever before. The TOTO G400’s bowl has a bit of a lip that isn’t quite as easy to keep clean.

Final Thoughts

Both the TOTO Neorest NX1 and the TOTO G400 Toilet and WASHLET provide a wide range of features and a stylish look. Between the two, however, the Neorest NX1 offers a bit more in all areas. It’s ultra-modern look, instant water heater, built-in nightlight, EWATER+, wide front cleanse, rimless bowl and updated design and flushing technology puts it a step ahead of the TOTO G400. We feel that these features are nice to have, but whether they’re must-haves depends on your personal preferences. The one area where the TOTO G400 wins is color options as it offers both white and beige units–beige isn’t a common feature in integrated units, so users looking for a beige unit will want to give the G400 serious consideration.
