One of the most obvious differences between the TOTO Neorest 500H and the TOTO Neorest NX2 are their looks. They both have a soft, rounded silhouette but the Neorest NX2 is the more stylish of the two with its seamless, graceful curves, while the design of the Neorest 500H feels a bit clunkier in comparison. In addition the base of the Neroest NX2 is crafted entirely out of high quality china, giving it it’s streamlined look, while the Neorest 500H’s base is constructed both from china and plastic components. However, the Neorest NX2 is only available in white whereas the Neorest 500H is one of the few TOTO integrated units to come in both white and beige, making it the more versatile of the two when it comes to color options.
The TOTO Neorest NX2 takes convenience and unit hygiene to new heights thanks to TOTO’s cutting edge Actilight technology. Actilight works to breakdown residual waste particles left in the bowl through a combination of UV light, the unit’s special CeFiONtect glaze, and electrolyzed water (called EWATER+). This system is designed to cut back on the amount of manual cleaning the unit requires, all without the use of harsh chemicals. On the other hand, the TOTO Neorest 500H, only features CeFiONtect glaze and EWATER+. While these help prevent residue from sticking to the bowl, the Neorest 500H doesn’t have the UV light that gives the Actilight system its cleaning power.
The TOTO Neorest 500H and the TOTO Neorest NX2 have all the same basic elements like a bowl, seat and flushing system, but TOTO redesigned these features on the NX2 to make them even better than before. The seat provides greater support for an unbeatably comfortable sit, and the rimless bowl eliminates any nooks or crannies for dirt and germs to hide and is incredibly easy to clean. What’s more, the reconfigured Tornado Flush system is more powerful than ever and is able to sweep away waste from areas of the bowl that traditionally are most likely to attract residue.
TOTO hasn’t released its pricing for the Neorest NX2 yet, but we’ll update this page when they do. Even so, we expect that the Neorest NX2 will be priced a good bit higher than the TOTO Neorest 500H due to its new silhouette, all china base, and Actilight self-cleaning technology.
When it comes to looks, quality and features, the TOTO Neorest NX2 is really the best of the best, and the TOTO Neorest 500H simply can’t beat it. However, this top of the line unit will likely come with a top of the line price, so if you’re not working with an unlimited budget, rest assured that you’ll still get a great, highly functional unit in the TOTO Neorest 500H. Unlike the Neorest NX2, the Neorest 500H doesn’t have self-cleaning Actilight technology and is made from both plastic and china components, but it does come in both white and beige, so it’s fairly easy to match with your existing bathroom color scheme.
