How to Use the Manual Cleaning Features on a TOTO Neorest

Most TOTO Neorest owners use the wash features every day, but many never explore the maintenance options built into the remote. Hidden in the menu is a set of manual cleaning functions that can help keep both the bowl and the wash wand in great condition.

If you’ve ever wondered what these settings do, here’s a quick breakdown of each one and when you should use it.

Where to Find the Manual Cleaning Menu

The manual cleaning options are located on the back of your TOTO Neorest remote. Simply open the menu, navigate to Manual Cleaning, and press Enter on the function you’d like to use. You’ll find three different options available to you:.

  • Bowl Cleaning
  • Wand Cleaning
  • Manual Clean

While they may sound similar, each serves a different purpose.

Bowl Cleaning

The first option is Bowl Cleaning. When selected, the Neorest performs a manual flush. During this process, the toilet wets the inside of the bowl and runs a flush cycle. This can be useful if you want to rinse the bowl before use or simply freshen things up between cleanings without performing a full wash cycle yourself.

Wand Cleaning

The Wand Cleaning option is one of the most helpful maintenance features on the Neorest. When activated, the toilet first performs its automatic nozzle cleaning cycle. After that finishes, the wand extends and remains in the cleaning position instead of retracting immediately. This gives you easy access to the nozzle so you can gently clean it by hand.

For best results, use a soft toothbrush or another non-abrasive brush to remove any buildup. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers, as they could damage the nozzle. Once you’ve finished cleaning, simply press the button again and the wand will retract back into the unit.

Regularly cleaning the nozzle helps keep your bidet performing its best and prevents buildup from effecting its performance

Manual Clean

The third option is called Manual Clean. Rather than flushing the toilet, this feature activates TOTO’s PREMIST® function.

PREMIST lightly sprays water around the inside of the toilet bowl before use. By creating a thin layer of water on the bowl’s surface, waste is less likely to stick to the porcelain. This helps the bowl stay cleaner and can reduce the amount of manual scrubbing needed over time.

Using the Manual Clean option simply activates that bowl-rinsing spray whenever you want, without beginning a full flush cycle.

Final Thoughts

The TOTO Neorest is packed with advanced features, and the manual cleaning menu is one that’s easy to overlook.Whether you need to manually rinse the bowl, clean the wash wand, or activate the PREMIST function, these built-in maintenance tools make caring for your toilet simple.

If you’ve never explored the menu on the back of your remote, it’s worth taking a minute to familiarize yourself with these options. A little routine maintenance goes a long way toward keeping your Neorest clean, hygienic, and operating at its best.
