How to Turn the Seat Sensor On and Off on the Brondell Swash 1400
The Brondell Swash 1400 includes a built-in seat sensor designed to detect when someone is seated. This safety feature prevents the bidet functions from activating unless the seat is occupied. In some situations, though, you may want to temporarily disable or re-enable the sensor.
In this quick guide, we’ll show you how to turn the seat sensor on and off on the Brondell Swash 1400.
How to Disable or Enable the Seat Sensor
To change the seat sensor setting:
- Locate the side panel on the bidet seat.
- Press and hold the Power button and the Rear Wash button at the same time.
- Hold both buttons for several seconds until the setting changes. You will know this has been successful when the lights on the back of the unit blink to indicate the change.
That’s it! Let the unit sit for at least 10 seconds before sitting on the seat or testing any additional features. Repeating the process will toggle the seat sensor back on or off as needed.
Why Would You Turn the Seat Sensor Off?
For normal day-to-day use, it’s generally recommended to keep the seat sensor enabled. However, there are some instances in which someone might want to disable this feature. If you are using a toileting chair for example or require a toilet lift. In some models you will see disabling the seat sensor referred to as “Child Mode”. If you have small children who will be using the bidet, this is another reason you might want to turn that seat sensor off.
Final Thoughts
The Brondell Swash 1400 makes it easy to adjust seat sensor settings directly from the side control panel. If you’re struggling with issues such as limited dexterity or vision problems, the Infinity Eaze z3 is another great option with the ability to disable the seat sensor. This seat has a large, tablet sized, remote that can be wall mounted. With raised and color coded buttons that are simple to use, this seat is great for those seeking to age in place.
