Look and Feel
There’s two primary differences between the TOTO Neorest 550H and the TOTO Neorest NX2 when it comes to looks: silhouette and color options. The Neorest NX2 features a soft, curved silhouette while the Neorest 550H has a sculpted, angular design. Both are attractive units that will add style to any bathroom, but your personal aesthetic will likely determine which you prefer. In addition, the Neorest 550H is perhaps the more versatile of the units as it comes in both white and beige, making it easier to blend in with a variety of bathroom color schemes, while the Neorest NX2 comes only in white.
Both the TOTO Neorest 550H and the TOTO Neorest NX2 have a special, CeFiONtect glaze baked-on to the surface that helps prevent residue from sticking and both feature sanitizing, electrolyzed water, but only the TOTO Neorest NX2 offers TOTO’s cutting-edge Actilight technology, which uses UV light in combination with the CeFiONtect glaze and electrolyzed water to break down remaining particles in the bowl.
TOTO units are known for their top notch design, and they’ve taken their legacy of quality a step further by updating the bowl, seat and flushing system on the NX2 to ensure even higher comfort and performance than before. The seat on the NX2 has been redesigned to provide users with increased stability and support, giving new meaning to the phrase “porcelain throne”. The NX2’s bowl features a rimless design that eliminates the lip that most traditional toilet bowls have, resulting in a smooth surface that gives dirt and grime no place to hide. Finally, TOTO reconfigured the design of the NX2’s tornado flushing system so that it’s capable of delivering a powerful flush to areas of the bowl that are most likely to attract residue. All in all, these changes take an already great product and makes it even better!
TOTO hasn’t released the price for the Neorest NX2 yet, but there will likely be a notable jump in price between the Neorest 550H and the Neorest NX2. We’ll update this review with more specific pricing information once it’s made available.
While both the TOTO Neorest NX2 and the TOTO Neorest 550H offer a variety of top-tier features and appealing looks, there are a few notable differences to keep in mind when deciding between the two. First is price. If you’re working with a tight budget, the TOTO Neorest NX2 may exceed your desired price point, while the Neorest 550H offers a lot of bang for your buck. Second, if you’re in need of a beige unit, you’ll have to cross the Neorest NX2 off your list as it’s only available in white. If, however, a white unit will match in your bathroom and you’re excited by innovative design, self-cleaning Actilight technology, and upgraded bowl, seat and flushing system, you’ll want to give the Neorest NX2 serious consideration.
