When it comes to bidet seat brands, TOTO is the name to beat. This Japanese company has been a pioneer in the bidet space from the beginning, and they’re known all over the world for producing top quality products that customers fall in love with instantly.

TOTO’s WASHLET line is very popular because they’re cheaper than many of TOTO’s other bidet products. So what exactly is a WASHLET? It’s simply what TOTO calls their standard electric bidet toilet seats. In other words, it’s kind of like calling a tissue a Kleenex — they’re both the same product, but one is a generic term and the other is a brand name moniker.

The TOTO WASHLET lineup offers a wide range of prices and feature sets. On the low end, you’ll find TOTO WASHLET seats like the C100 and C200 that come with a tank water heater. These WASHLETS have limited warm water, and tend to be very uncomfortable due to the tall back. This design gives the seat room to house the water tank, but it also forces the customer much further forward, making the overall experience feel cramped.

TOTO’s instant water heater WASHLETS are top notch, and if you’re willing to spend a bit more, we highly recommend both the TOTO WASHLET S500e and the TOTO WASHLET S550e. These TOTO WASHLETs come in two trim styles; Classic or Modern (aka. Contemporary). Don’t let these trim options throw you for a loop – the features are identical regardless of which one you choose.

Not only do high end WASHLETs like the S500e and S550e offer a very comfortable seat, they also have an instant water heater that generates unlimited warm water. Plus, they even use sterile, electrolyzed water (eWATER) to clean the bidet nozzles, so you can rest easy knowing your seat is as hygienic as can be. Other top tier features include multiple wash settings and options, a heated seat, and remote control with wall mount.

Most NEOREST bidets have similar feature sets, but the more expensive NEORESTs are sleeker and many have a fully ceramic base.

2. In addition, this glaze gets sprayed down every night with a sterile, electrolized water created by the toilet, called EWATER+. While the bowl is still wet, these high end NEOREST units turn on a powerful UV light.

They’re unique because the cord and hose on the WASHLET+ seat line up perfectly with a special hole in the paired toilet. This setup totally conceals the cord and hose for a uniquely sleek look. If you’re not able to spend what it would take to get a NEOREST, but still want the streamlined look, a TOTO WASHLET+ system is well worth considering.

Stylistically, a TOTO WASHLET+ system is much sleeker than a standard bidet seat, but it still won’t match the NEOREST in terms of features, nor will it be as comfortable. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for the best money has to offer at a price tag under $2,000 dollars, a TOTO WASHLET+ is the way to go.
